KWAITO master Martin Morrocky, aka The Dogg, will be the main attraction at the Mayoral Benefit Concert 2010 at Kuisebmond on Friday night.

Organised by the Walvis Bay Municipality, the event will also see other top musicians like Qonja, TeQuila, Kannibal, Satlam and young and vibrant kwaito group Magogos in action.Said The Dogg: ‘This is a very special occasion because all the money coming from the gate takings will be donated to less privileged people. And the good thing about the concert is that all the artists are going to perform for free.’It’s a good thing because it’s very important that we artists also start to give back to our people without always demanding compensation. I’m particularly excited to help because the money is for a very good cause.’The Dogg said he plans to give the Kuisebmond community a ‘top show’ and will also perform songs from his joint mini-album with Qonja.’My coastal fans have always been good to me and I always draw a huge crowd whenever I visit that part of the country. I’m just planning to give them a dynamic show as a way to say thank you for their support throughout the years.’He added that with December approaching, ‘it’s only appropriate that I kick off my festive season on such good note’. ‘It is almost the season of giving and I’m just too glad to kick start it with a charity show for the underprivileged,’ he said.Qonja, also known as Mdakadaka, has released hits like ‘Koek n Jam’, ‘Good Life’, ‘Swagger’ and most recently ‘Tuyeni Koskola’ and is said to be in the studio recording his new album.TeQuila, one of Namibia’s most popular female artists, needs no introduction with hits like ‘Saturday Night’. She also featured on DJ Bojo Mujo monster hit ‘Thando I’wam’ (‘Marry Me’), which reached double-platinum sales.Also in the mix will be new kwaito star Satlam and Hip Hop maestro Kanibal.What’s set to be a humdinger of a show will take place at the Kuisebmond Stadium at 19h00 on Friday.* Entrance is N$40 for adults and N$15 for children.
