THE body of a female teacher was found next to a road near Oshakati on Friday afternoon, with her crying toddler sitting nearby.
Police at Oshakati say Nangula Shafa was shot in the head with a shotgun. She was teaching at Otshikushashipya Combined School in the village of Otshikushashipya.A source at the school told The Namibian that Nangula left the school with her two-year-old son late on Friday afternoon. She was driving a Toyota bakkie and was believed to be heading for Oshakati. It is believed that she was ambushed, shot dead and dragged from the bakkie by her assailant.A Police source at Oshakati said no arrest had been made by yesterday afternoon. The source said the murder might be linked to another case reported to the Police on Friday, in which a security guard disappeared with a shotgun belonging to a security company at Oshakati. The Police in the North have launched a manhunt for the teacher’s murderer.”Because it is raining and some oshanas are full of water, this makes it difficult for the Police to search for this culprit effectively, but nevertheless, we will get him,” one officer told The Namibian yesterday.
