A TANZANIAN resident of Windhoek and two of his compatriots have appeared in court on charges of dealing in cocaine and ecstasy with a street value of N$37 500.
The Police’s Drug Law Enforcement Unit is claiming that alleged drug dealer Shaabani Hamidu (32) was caught red-handed, so to speak, clutching some ten grams of cocaine in one of his hands when the Police surprised him at his rented Dorado Park house in Windhoek last Sunday. It is alleged that Hamidu was caught as he was about to drive off to deliver cocaine to a client. The Police further claim that more drugs were found hidden in the yard of the house in Dorado Park’s Crux Street.About 125 ecstasy tablets, with a street value of some N$15 000, and 50 grams of cocaine, which could fetch N$22 500 on the street, were allegedly discovered on the property. Two fellow Tanzanians, Hamisi Jumane (34) and Ahmed Zuberi Jamal (32), who were also on the property, were arrested with Hamidu. The three men appeared on a charge of dealing in cocaine and ecstasy, alternatively possessing the drugs, before Magistrate Tuyenikelao Haikango in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.Their case was postponed to August 15 for further investigation, and the three charged men were remanded in custody until then. The Magistrate was also informed that they plan to bring a formal bail application on Thursday this week.It is alleged that Hamidu was caught as he was about to drive off to deliver cocaine to a client. The Magistrate was also informed that they plan to bring a formal bail application on Thursday this week.
