THE weekly Informanté newspaper says it stands by its story which quoted Swapo Youth wing Secretary Elijah Ngurare as accusing Youth and Sports Minister Willem Konjore of being a womaniser.
The paper’s Editor-in-chief, Max Hamata, said in a statement yesterday that there was no way they could have quoted Ngurare out of context as the questions to him were direct and it was he who first raised the issue that Konjore was allegedly giving jobs to his cousins, sisters and girlfriends while Namibia’s youth suffered.’There was no way we could have introduced the pillow matters as Ngurare has suggested from the onset in the interview as we had gone there to seek answers to the situation faced by ‘struggle kids’ and the Ministry of Youth involvement,’ Hamata said.He said they had it on record that they had asked Ngurare more than three times to repeat the accusations about Konjore allegedly giving jobs to cousins, sisters and girlfriends.’He actually emphasised that he was not afraid to state the accusations of Konjore employing girlfriends. There are direct quotes where we have Ngurare as having accused Konjore of abusing his office through giving jobs to his relatives and girlfriends,’ Hamata said.Ngurare said he was quoted out of context.’What context, if the issue was about Konjore and the struggle kids?’ Hamata asked.
