OUTAPI – Hadino Hishongwa, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Training and Employment Creation on Saturday called on loyal Swapo Party members to reject elements that he alleged intended to destroy the party from within its ranks.

Hishongwa described the culprits as “makakunya” (former soldiers of the then South Africa colonial regime in Namibia).Hishongwa charged that these elements had started their activities on the eve of the Swapo Party’s Extraordinary Congress in May.He said he believed peace and stability in Namibia would rule as long as Swapo maintained unity among its members at all costs.”We should not condone tribalism, neither regionalism, but we must learn to live together in unity,” Hishongwa said.He called for the strong unity of purpose that had prevailed in the rank and file of Swapo during the liberation struggle. He pointed out that it was the decision of the Political Bureau and Central Committee of the Swapo-Party to nominate three candidates to vie for the position of party president and anybody discrediting anyone of them deserved condemnation by loyal party members.Lands, Resettlement and Rehabilitation Minister Hifikepunye Pohamba, former Foreign Affairs Minister Hidipo Hamutenya and Higher Education, Training and Employment Creation Minister Nahas Angula were the three candidates.Pohamba, who is also the Swapo Party Vice President, won the race and is expected to contest the country’s presidential election in November.- NampaHishongwa described the culprits as “makakunya” (former soldiers of the then South Africa colonial regime in Namibia).Hishongwa charged that these elements had started their activities on the eve of the Swapo Party’s Extraordinary Congress in May.He said he believed peace and stability in Namibia would rule as long as Swapo maintained unity among its members at all costs.”We should not condone tribalism, neither regionalism, but we must learn to live together in unity,” Hishongwa said.He called for the strong unity of purpose that had prevailed in the rank and file of Swapo during the liberation struggle. He pointed out that it was the decision of the Political Bureau and Central Committee of the Swapo-Party to nominate three candidates to vie for the position of party president and anybody discrediting anyone of them deserved condemnation by loyal party members.Lands, Resettlement and Rehabilitation Minister Hifikepunye Pohamba, former Foreign Affairs Minister Hidipo Hamutenya and Higher Education, Training and Employment Creation Minister Nahas Angula were the three candidates.Pohamba, who is also the Swapo Party Vice President, won the race and is expected to contest the country’s presidential election in November.- Nampa
