Swapo wants Snewe to retract bribery claims

THE Swapo Party has demanded that the DPN representative in the Keetmanshoop town council, Margaret Snewe, retract bribery allegations she allegedly levelled against the party.

In a recent article in the New Era, Snewe claimed Swapo had offered her N$10 000 to side with the party’s council representatives during the election of political office bearers. Rejecting the allegations as baseless, former mayor of Karasburg Mathew Mumbala told a media conference at Keetmanshoop on Saturday: ‘We see this accusation as a deliberate and malicious effort to score some political points. ‘Let this also be a serious warning to Ms Snewe and her allies in Karas who might think that they can score cheap political points by mudslinging the Swapo Party. We shall not leave any stone unturned to demand from them to clear the name of our party,’ he added. When approach for comment, Snewe yesterday said she won’t retract the bribery claims.’I did not tell a lie, therefore I won’t retract anything. I am not a child to lie,’ Snewe said angrily.
