Swapo sounds warning

THE Secretary General of Swapo, Ngarikutuke Tjiriange, has warned party members who sow discord in the party that they will be expelled.

Addressing Swapo supporters at Oshakati this weekend, Tjiriange said some Swapo members and even leaders are forgetting that they are there for the people. However, he claimed, there are those who are only interested in personal gain. They only have their own interests at heart and are trying to smear the names of others to protect their privileged positions and fat salaries.”Now, cheques come first and we are no longer driven by patriotism as we are supposed to be,” Tjiriange said.”I am warning all those who are going around here or in other regions and trying to make other comrades’ names dirty, to stop this practice or face being expelled from the Swapo Party immediately,” he added. He said some Swapo members and leaders are allegedly telling people not to vote for presidential candidate Hifikepunye Pohamba, but only for Swapo in the coming Presidential and National Assembly elections.”This is again to bring disunity in Swapo and I am calling upon those to refrain from doing so, because they are damaging the mighty party Swapo.”However, he claimed, there are those who are only interested in personal gain. He said some Swapo members and leaders are allegedly telling people not to vote for presidential candidate Hifikepunye Pohamba, but only for Swapo in the coming Presidential and National Assembly elections.”This is again to bring disunity in Swapo and I am calling upon those to refrain from doing so, because they are damaging the mighty party Swapo.”
