OTHER political parties in the country should copy the Swapo Party manifesto, according to Fisheries Minister Dr Nicky Iyambo.
Launching the manifesto at Keetmanshoop, Iyambo labelled other political parties ‘poor people’, saying they ‘do not have anything’. The manifesto containing the policies and strategies of the Swapo Party emphasises unity, democracy, peace, stability and the protection of the rule of law, said Iyambo. Iyambo said Swapo Party is the only party with a rich history, denouncing other political parties’ history as ‘shameful’.He pledged Swapo would continuously monitor its manifesto to ensure its implementation. Also speaking at the event, Karas Governor Dawid Boois highlighted the achievements in Karas Region under the Swapo-led Government. Boois also pinpointed challenges such as ‘extreme poverty, unemployment, crime, alcohol and drug abuse and HIV-AIDS’ facing the region. Delivering the main speech at the launch, the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Willem Konjore, rejected perceptions that the Swapo Government has not achieved much during the past 19 years.’Change is there. Development is there. There is no argument about it,’ said Konjore. He urged Swapo supporters to go on the campaign trail ahead of the November national and presidential elections.’Go house to house to campaign,’ he urged, warning that this should be done without fighting.
