OPENING batsman Stefan Swanepoel makes a return to the Namibian team for this weekend’s SAA Cup match against Northerns after an absence of more than a year.
Swanepoel, who was a regular opening batsman for Namibia, had been unavailable for selection due to work commitments for the whole of last year, but with the World Cup qualifiers coming up in April, Swanepoel has now returned to the game.
Over the weekend he made a good impression at the national trials.
Swanepoel is however only available for the limited-overs SAA Cup match on Sunday and will miss the three-day SAA Challenge match against Northerns from tomorrow to Saturday.
Both matches will be played at the Wanderers ground starting at 10h00. The squads for the SAA Challenge and SAA Cup matches are as follows. (The starting 11 for Sunday’s SAA Cup match will only be announced on Saturday evening.)
SAA Challenge team: Raymond van Schoor, Gerhard Rudolph, Sarel Burger, Louis Burger (captain), Gerrie Snyman, JB Burger, Craig Williams, LP vd Westhuizen, Louis Klazinga, Kola Burger and Bernard Scholtz. Wilber Slabber and Andrew Louw are the 12th and 13th men respectively.
