THE Mineworkers’ Union of Namibia (MUN) has threatened to take “appropriate measures” unless the management at the Skorpion Zinc mine re-instates eight workers who were sacked recently.
The workers allegedly went on an unlawful go-slow strike that resulted in serious delays in production. MUN Southern Regional Organiser Silas Antonius last week told The Namibian that the union did not rule out a strike if the company failed to re-employ the eight workers. The unionist claimed that the company had unfairly dismissed the workers.Skorpion Zinc General Manager Gerald Boting declined to comment.”The internal process continues and we therefore have no comment,” he said.MUN Southern Regional Organiser Silas Antonius last week told The Namibian that the union did not rule out a strike if the company failed to re-employ the eight workers. The unionist claimed that the company had unfairly dismissed the workers.Skorpion Zinc General Manager Gerald Boting declined to comment.”The internal process continues and we therefore have no comment,” he said.
