Squash schools’ league planned for second term

LOCAL squash coach John Lingashi is preparing about 28 boys and girls from the Elim Primary and the People’s Primary schools in Katutura for the Legal Shield Schools’ Squash League planned for the second term.

Lingashi has been coaching the children, who are between the ages of nine to 14 years, for the second year now. They are expected to compete in the Schools’ League which also include players from the Windhoek International School, St Paul’s and St.George’s High Schools.Lingashi says some of the children he is training have now mastered the basic skills of the sport and will be on par with players from the other schools when the league starts.He said although the league primarily caters for players between the ages of nine and 14, an under-16 section might also be considered, depending on the interest.There is no specific date for the start of the league, but it is expected to start when schools open for the second term.The children from Elim and the People’s Primary School are training once a week for two hours at the Klein Windhoek Squash Club.Legal Shield will be the sponsors of the schools’ league and is also contributing to the training of the children from the two Katutura schools.They are expected to compete in the Schools’ League which also include players from the Windhoek International School, St Paul’s and St.George’s High Schools.Lingashi says some of the children he is training have now mastered the basic skills of the sport and will be on par with players from the other schools when the league starts.He said although the league primarily caters for players between the ages of nine and 14, an under-16 section might also be considered, depending on the interest.There is no specific date for the start of the league, but it is expected to start when schools open for the second term.The children from Elim and the People’s Primary School are training once a week for two hours at the Klein Windhoek Squash Club.Legal Shield will be the sponsors of the schools’ league and is also contributing to the training of the children from the two Katutura schools.
