Sports Shops Must Get Act Together

Sports Shops Must Get Act Together

I WISH to express my disappointment regarding the sale of sports items in and around our country.

First of all, I am an absolute and full-on supporter of all sports codes of my country. But when it comes to international sports events (where Namibia does not participate) I am an ardent supporter of Brazil (soccer),West Indies (cricket) and the All Blacks (rugby). How is it possible that our so-called sports shops only sell supporters’ items from South Africa? After all, we are not all supporters of Bafana Bafana, the Proteas or the Springboks. The Fifa 2006 Soccer World Cup is a month from now.I am sure we have people of all 32 participating countries in Namibia. And none of our sport shops caters for them? It is ridiculous, to say the least. Please don’t call yourself sport shops if the only items for sale are those of South African sports codes.James McClune Via e-mailBut when it comes to international sports events (where Namibia does not participate) I am an ardent supporter of Brazil (soccer),West Indies (cricket) and the All Blacks (rugby). How is it possible that our so-called sports shops only sell supporters’ items from South Africa?
