Some Sports Have All The Luck

WHY it is that sport codes like the NRU and NFA get buried in money from sponsors and government and still they cannot perform? Or they get into disputes with their sponsors but still companies stand in line to sponsor them.

When smaller sport codes that do perform in their fields ask for assistance, they get blame for not submitting their budgets in time. Do not ask for sponsors because they never have money for these codes.The management of the big sport codes can be corrupt (like selling World Cup tickets for personal gain) and bring Namibia’s name and status in disrepute.They can blame supporters, Government and sponsors for no cooperation, but still they receive more.The management do not get fired it looks like that they get encouraged to exceed the previous misbehaviour.Sometimes there is gross mismanagement on their part, but still they get more.When smaller sport codes behave like them, they will get thrown out of the country.The finger of blame, if it is from government, NSC, City of Windhoek or sponsors can always be pointed back at these sport codes.There is always something missing for failed applications for assistance or sponsors.It is always the small codes that have to prove themselves year in and year out.It does not matter that they adhered to good governance, good development programs and good participation from WOMEN and men.It does not matter that they will keep Namibian name and status intact, or do the country proud because they are small.When you read about rugby, soccer and athletics it is more negative than positive coverage, but still the get more.Why?
