SMS Of The Day
*PLEASE all leaders in charge of our country Namibia, seize the opportunities now in 2011 to seriously uplift our people. You are responsible for our poverty, our unemployment, our pensioners and our youth who need to see the possibility of a future in the country of their birth! Just do it OR get other capable persons to do it! Incompetence must not be tolerated any longer!

Food for Thought*HAPPY New Year to The Namibian newspaper. I want to know why the former president (Sam Nujoma) is not invited to help solve African crises like other former heads of state?
Bouquets and Brickbats*I WOULD like to congratulate our President (Hifikepunye Pohamba) for what he did for us, and the whole world. Keep it up, coming in 5th position as a good leader. We wish you all the best to be the first leader. Thanks so much President.- Justus
*CONGRATULATIONS to all teachers at St Boniface College in# Kavango Region. Your results are very good. Other schools should take a good example from you. I am not living there but I thank you very much.*MY wish for 2011 is to see all the empty promises made by the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs implemented as soon as possible.*BRAVO Commissioner Anguwo from Otjozondjupa Region. We the law-abiding citizens are behind you. It is now up to the politicians to amend the legislation regarding liquor trading and consumption. Rather prohibit liquor than cigarette consumption.*I WANT to give my thanks and gratitude to Nampol in Outjo. We the nurses had little to do in terms of casualties during the festive season. A big thumbs up to Nampol, Outjo.- Sister Tom*WISHING The Namibian newspaper staff a very blessed and prosperous new year. May you continue to inform the nation. Keep telling it like it is. Welcome back. I’ve missed reading your paper terribly!*HAPPY New Year! The office of the PM needs to give a sense of direction in order to shape a dysfunctional public service. Absenteeism, laziness, dubious sick leave and a poor work ethic are big problems. The office of the PM is urged to help stamp out this evil practice.*NAMIBIA Wildlife Resorts can be glad (Tobie) Aupindi went early. He should have gone four years ago, the so-called flagship of NWR, Etosha Park, is in disarray. The shops have no stock and the food served at the restaurants at all the camps is disgraceful. Let’s appoint a competent CEO, not a political buddy.Law and Order*ROAD accidents. I appreciate all the efforts stakeholders have put in to help curb unnecessary road accidents. However, Namibia and Nabta, in particular, should also look at introducing a defensive driving school which will help drivers enhance driving skills and road danger awareness as a long term solution, instead of just concentrating on speed limits and fines.- Kay, WindhoekEducation*CAN the Ministry of Education pounce on the admin and staff at Mwadikange Kaulinge SS as soon as possible. Teachers are publicly dating school girls. My own daughter is a victim. Act now.- Parent and community leader*MINISTRY of Education please do something about Oshikunde SSS. Teachers who are dating learners are impregnating them but nothing has been done to them.- J-lo*AS we enter the 21st year of an independent Namibia let us dismantle two practices from the Apartheid era. First: the red line at Oshivelo. Second: police routinely asking passengers for national ID cards at road blocks. As a citizen I consider that to be harassment.*MINISTER of Education please help us. We have a problem with Vooruit Primary School in Otjiwarongo. We have not received progress reports of some children due to outstanding amounts. Some of these kids were in Grade 7 and need to find other schools but the reports are being held back. Please help.*MINISTRY of Education! Is it really fair that a junior student of Grade 10 who passed all the subjects with 30 points and failed only English is not promoted to Grade 11. The young student must join Namcol because of only one subject. Is it not time-wasting Minister (Abraham) Iyambo?Health Matters*MINISTER of Health (Richard Kamwi) visit Oshikuku hospital wards. The mattresses are old and of poor quality, there is not enough linen and clothes for patients. Nurses have not received uniforms for the past 10 years yet they cut our overtime to 18 hours and for this reason we work very short hours on Sundays. We do not know where the money goes. Last year there was a huge donation consisting of many different materials which relieved some burden on the budget but only a few items are in use. The question is where did the other things go? Please investigate this matter. No wonder the nurses are leaving the hospital. In and From the Regions*COUNCILLOR Tjihoreko, what is the problem that we cannot get water at Corridor 13 in Aminuis constituency. We want water please, or share your problem with Windhoek if it is so difficult for your office to solve.- E Tjarirove*WHEN travelling from Otjiwarongo towards Otavi you will come across an Otavi 50 (km) sign and then next an Otavi 52 sign. Can the relevant authority please rectify since it’s been years now?*To Okahao constituency councillor, we would like to have electricity at Okakutuwa Primary School, we have waited for so long.*TO Etayi constituency councillor, we would like you to provide us with electricity at Omutundungu village. Please do not let us down. – ShikongoNBC*HEY NBC, what happened to ‘The Ties That Bind’? Good Series, home-made, telling OUR story. When will we see it again?*CAN NBC please stick to CNN around lunch time and I kindly ask you to continue with the documentaries you have been showing at 18h00. Just push ‘Business Today’ to the evening as well. As a student I really learned a lot from the documentaries. Please some of us don’t have time for soapies or those boring and pathetically laughable music programmes.Service Please*WOERMANN Brock Vineta your new store looks great, but please invest in more speedpoints, mostly you only have one working!*I SPENT my festive holiday in the North, and one thing that surprised me is the MTC recharge vouchers that each N$11. English borrows most of its scientific words from Latin and Greek. Afrikaans is only as scientific as the languages it’s made from. Our languages just need similar lexicon development, financing, publications, modernisation and the promotion that English and Afrikaans received to get where they are today.
