SMSes of Wednesday 3 March 2010

* TAXI drivers: We have legs, we will walk when we want to. Why must you hoot at every walking person? We know where taxis stop. Why must you run to drag us to your taxis, why scream and shout at people?

Food for Thought* SO who exactly are these people who fine others for swearing? This is obviously a lucrative scam. Please investigate, it could make a good story.Bouquets and Brickbats* VIVA Mozambique, a cabinet minister sent to jail for a period of 20 years. Here N$30 and N$100 million lost and no one knows who took it.- Khabu /Gawiseb* THANKS to Swakopmund Police for assisting us with noise pollution in Obadja Uushona Street, Mondesa. We appreciate your hard work.* I WANT to comment on the Women and Child Protection Unit, specifically Ms Mbako-Angula and Ms Simaho. We need more dedicated officers like them. Thank you to them.* THANK you The Namibian for continuing to keep Namibia informed. But I have a big problem with the treason trial taking place on March 1, where the confessions ruling were to be announced. To my surprise, come Tuesday March 2, there is nothing in our beloved newspaper. Please keep us informed about the trial which I and others will appreciate. Keep ‘Still Telling It Like It Is”.* MR Iita and your team thank you for tarring our previously neglected roads in Ozondje. Keep up the good work.* THE Crime Report line 4444 seems to be useless. We are reporting drug dealings but they are not responding. These drug dealings involve scholars. Did they stop the service?* I WONDER? A police officer tells the person bringing clothes for a prisoner to search the bag with the people in the charge office. How can one search a bag of clothes one item at a time publicly? This gives bad image. Wanaheda Police make a plan on how to search the prisoner’s stuff please.- Michael* ONE Africa the tune during intervals is so irritating! Why interrupt movies? It’s so uncool. Please stop it.Politics* INSTEAD of asking President Hifikepunye Pohamba to include (McHenry) Venaani and (Johan) de Waal in his six non voting members, why not ask (Katuutire) Kaura and (Philemon) Moongo to step aside?- Chakilo* PEOPLE asking for Venaani to be appointed to Parliament must plead with Kaura and the entire DTA leadership to replace one of their Parliament-bound candidates. Do not plead with (President Hifikepunye) Pohamba nor Swapo. The man is a DTA card-carrying member and he must go to Parliament on that party’s ticket.* PLEASE Venaani contributes to nation building. President Pohamba give him a chance in your party.Running the Show* MINISTRY of Defence: is it legal for NDF members to drive an NDF car while not wearing uniform? I see this often, especially after hours and on weekends.Taxi Talk* I WANT to respond to the person who said taxi drivers should not carry a firearm. Last Saturday at 21h00 I was attacked by a group of 12 gangsters. What would have happened to me if I had not been able to pull out my firearm? Disarm the illegals and leave the legally licensed free. This happened at the four-way stop between Channel 7 and Swabou.* ARE the taxis not supposed to operate according to licences allocated to them, for example, Katutura, Khomasdal, Otjomuise etc? Nowadays there is a tendency for taxis to refuse to go further than Khomasdal. Can somebody look into this or otherwise we will be forced to make use of municipal buses even if it takes longer! In and From the Regions* OMUTHIYA Town Council when are your residents getting power? We are in the dark. Now you are supplying power to unoccupied erven. Have you forgotten about your electorate? Why should we beg for good services?- Horongo
* ‘GEM war’ in Erongo mountains! As far as I know, there is a law/rule that the first one who applied officially for a certain ‘claim’ at the Ministry of Mines has full right to dig there. Those ‘small diggers’ just do what they want without any control. They poach and cause a massively destroyed environment.* PLEASE we are still waiting for Comrade Jackson Kaujeua’s CDs to support him here in the North.* NHE we are in need of houses in Rundu town please?* MR Jerry Ekandjo, when must that sun rise in the east for you to intervene in the maladministration going on in the Rehoboth Town Council.- Very concerned from Block E.* MINISTRY of Health please see to it that the Tsinstabis clinic gets an ambulance because they wait for hours for one to come.* OKAHANDJA Municipality, why are payments made on my account not deducted immediately when I make a payment. I always have to go back and enquire about previous payments made that were never deducted while I am being charged interest on the forever high arrears.* CAN the owner of Kamuku Enterprises tell us, the clients of the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) in Omaruru, how long it takes for them to complete 25 houses? We are now tired of waiting and renting is killing us! Tuaaurua mbuaee!Gone to the Dogs* IT’S only in Namibia and under the Swapo Government where, due to hunger and poverty, one can even find Police Officers on duty eating food meant for dogs. Namibia has registered a 51 per cent unemployment rate and many of her citizens are destined to scavenge for rotten food (leftovers) in refuse bins and dumping sites while millions of public funds are still being siphoned out of the country by politically-exposed persons in cahoots with some senior officials.ACC Alert* ACC please look into the way appointments are made here at Ohangwena Regional Council. It is all nepotism, victimisation and favouritism at play.Health Matters* DEAR Erongo Health Inspectors. Omaruru SI !Gobs school hostel is a breeding nest for mosquitoes. Please help the children.
EducationTeaching is a vocation* THE regulation that teachers have to work until 16h00 must have office workers in their element. Unpaid baby sitters while they, the office workers, idly sit turning pages pretending to work! The reason for the low pass percentage is automatic promotion. I know, I experienced it.- Retired Teacher* POOR teachers who have to work afternoons as well! Are they going to get paid extra for sporting events on weekends? (Education Minister Nangolo) Mbumba doesn’t realise how exhausting other people’s kids can be!- Mary* THIS goes to (David) Namwandi of IUM to ask when our kids are going to get their degrees from NICOSIA (CIM) since they completed in 2003. Why ignore this issue?* EDUCATIONAL Research Proposal: Make two classes of the same gender and a third class of mixed gender in the same grade and get surprise results.- Educated father* WHEN does the Namcol enrolment period for tuition end? In the brochure for part-time candidates page 9 in the summary of important dates for 2010, it says 25 Jan – 05 Mar 2010 but at some centres, like the one of Khorab School Otavi, 01 March was the closing date.* WHERE does one go to lodge concerns about the laziness of private school teachers and the way their schools are run?* SHAME on some journalists, politicians and others. They don’t know the difference between a learner and a student! In the Namibian education system you are a learner until Grade 12 if you do it at a school!* CAN The Namibian pay a visit to the student records desk at Unam please. Utter chaos! I stand to be disciplined at my work just because I can’t produce that document. Today I returned and couldn’t get one. And all this after I paid N$5000!* THE Criminal justice system course at the Polytechnic only benefits police officers who are stationed in Windhoek because it is only offered on part-time but not distance learning basis which caters for all of us in Namibia.* AT our school a lack of classrooms forces us to do double sessions. As such teachers and learners exchange classes at noon. The morning teachers have no chance for remedial activities and there is no staffroom. So they leave for home if there are no outdoor activities. Now how is it possible that they stay up to 16h00?
* I WANT to know what has happened to Bunya hostel subsidy? Please help the poor children. It is March now.- Hostel manager* ACCORDING to the Labour Act civil servants must work eight hours a day, 40 hours a week. Teachers are not exempt from this practice. They must spend eight hours at school doing preparations for the next day and make sure learners are doing their homework. By doing this some of them will not come unprepared for the next day.* THE (Education) Minister has said teachers are like other public servants but they are refused S&T and overtime payment for work done on Saturdays. Nantu wake up.- Shalulu* UNAM, IUM, Polytech, IOL, Namcol, etc. Students don’t you know there’s a difference between a school, a college and a university?Colour Blind* KAARONDA on Kosmos Radio on March 2. Mr Kaaronda is not fit to be a minister if he continues to refer to black and white in Namibia. He is a clown, saying that Namibia is black, not white. Get rid of him President Pohamba, racists are not welcome in our country.- Proud colour blind NamibianLabour Issues* ARE there presently disadvantaged people represented in the Employment Equity Commission?* PLEASE Ministry of Labour and Natau help us. We are workers of Onghoshi Security at Okahandja. We have not been paid for two months. We were only paid in December. Onghoshi tel: 061-300705 cell: 0811299844* DEAR Mr (Wilbard) Usiku, boss of the Employment Equity Commission, do you only investigate the private sector? What about government institutions that reserve management positions for certain disadvantaged groups only while others are being marginalised.* USE the unemployed as auxiliary nurses. Let them assist the nurses. Thus you solve two problems at once: More nursing staff and you reduce unemployment. You do have enough money.NBC* I WATCHED One on One on NBC on Wednesday. Was this the good Dr who was the NBC chief? If so then I can also run the NBC – a member of the Swapo think tank, a Permanent Secretary at the National Council and a Director in the Public Service! Hope Dr Mulongeni’s next guests are Mr Paulus Kapia, Asser Ntinda and Andrew Ndishishi to ask them questions. This will make the good Dr an investigative journalist to reckon with.- Inamutwika Shimbilinga, EhekeLost and Found* ANYONE who has found documents for Mr Destilliano Namaseb please call 081-100-2154.* I LOST my original documents in Windhoek, my name is Olivia N Nauyoma. If found please call or SMS Fillemon Eliakim on 081-450-4286.SportingDon’t kill the beautiful game* I AM a soccer lover in the northern part of Namibia. I want to know if the NFA is really serious about the second and first division? Last season’s winners in those leagues didn’t even get medals or trophies. What a blunder. Even school tournaments reward their winners with those items. You are killing the beautiful game.* JEROME Louis and Tangeni Shipahu are simply the best Mr (Tom) Saintfiet.- Big Fan* ALL Blue Boys members and supporters let’s go out in numbers to support our boys and new coach Mr Haraseb because they are doing well.

We are tired of eating expired things.- Kamushila, Windhoek* I BOUGHT lunch at Katiti’s Take Away that cost N$41.50. I gave N$50 and never got my change as I waited at my table outside.
