* THE Government wants the SME sector to grow, but they take two months or longer to pay small amounts, but require prompt service. The Government is killing my business as without prompt payments no other business will assist me. The people in the finance departments give you the runaround, please Permanent Secretary look into better payment services and time for SMEs or we won’t become sustainable.
– Tired of Waiting

Food For ThoughtLAC director Norman Tjombe* THANK you very much Norman Tjombe for being the voice of unheard voices, to stand up and face reality. Those are true facts that you mentioned on November 17 in The Namibian. Please leaders, why are you hurting us, for how long must we cry? Let us try other possible alternatives to overcome all these problems hurting our society at large.Election Fever* WHY does the ECN give special treatment to civil servants when it comes to employment for the forthcoming election?* VERY ironic … the picture by Oswald Shivute on page 5 of the November 16 issue of this paper clearly showing, on walls, the branding of The Namibian newspaper at a Swapo rally. I find it amusing. – The Namibian donated the fence for the Oshakati Stadium the year the The Namibian Soccer Cup took place there, shortly after the venue was upgraded. – Newsdesk* VIOLENCE or not is your own choice. What should the UN come here for? We must learn to conduct ourselves as mature and responsible Namibians. * JUST to correct a caller on Open Line concerning Saturday’s election results: people at foreign missions are representing the Government, not a political party.- It should also be noted that people who vote overseas are not necessarily attached to an embassy, etc. Namibians living, working or studying abroad also vote. – News EditorPolitics* THIS country is now more divided along tribal lines than during colonialism. Look at the ruling party, Government, parastatals and the private sector structures.* ROMAN Catholic, Evangelical, Lutheran and AME church leaders are you happy with the issues of the day like murder, corruption, nepotism, tribalism, hate speech? Why are you not taking a clear stand and the lead in the fight against it, like against apartheid? Bouquets And Brickbats* THANK you Norman Tjombe. Like always, there for us poor people. Maybe these dull politicians will now see what they are doing is violating the Namibian Constitution. * HATS off to Norman Tjombe for telling it like it is. It’s about time our Government ministers realise they have been elected as servants of the people and not for a free ride on the gravy train! Enough is enough!* VIVA Norman Tjombe viva. That’s what I call a real leader. You are man of this universe. God bless you brother- Williward Narib, Swakopmund* HEARTFELT congratulations to Mr Tjombe, if I had his mobile number I would SMS ‘thanks Norman for really telling it like it is’. * THANKS to our First Lady, meme Pohamba. You are a hard worker. Keep it up. We are proud of you!* I BELIEVE every leader and the commanders and commissioners of the Namibian Police all over, have learned a lesson from the Oshana Region, that our people listen to and follow what our leaders and responsible bodies say to us. I think there were people from the Omusati Region at all the rallies on Saturday in Oshana and they obeyed the rules there. Whose effort was it? No doubt, the Oshana regional Police through the message/warning they gave over the radio, and their presence and guidance at the two rallies/convoys. Let’s please follow this good example of the Oshana Region. Salute tate Kashihakumwa and the force under him. Keep it up sir!- Akuniihole* I REALLY don’t like the advert on One Africa TV about the South African washing powder (Maq). Why are they using the South African advert in Namibia? Calling us South Africans. This is Namibia. They must change their advert please. Is this allowed in Namibia?- Proudly Namibian* ONE Africa is not State-owned and does not benefit from TV licences, and now you don’t want them to run the ads while you are watching a movie. Can you tell us where they are supposed to get funding? Please people let us not be ungrateful and start complaining about real problems.* I TOOK off my hat to President [Hifikepunye] Pohamba when he initiated the ACC. But recent events like the foul play involved in the allocation of Chinese bursaries make me wonder. Health MattersWe need the right info* IT’S correct: condoms are considered to be about 80 per cent effective against HIV because there are many factors that affect how much protection they offer. Our youth must have this info so they can make informed decisions. Using a condom during sex is safer than, but not 100 per cent safe. We need to know the risks.* TO the Health Minister! There is a measles outbreak. I sent my children today to be immunised at the Okuryangava clinic against measles but they were sent back home unimmunised. The question is where else could we get help if the Government health facilities are sending people home without immunisation? The children explained to the nurse very clearly that there is a person at home who is suffering from measles. The Ministry of Health should immunise affected people, the measles is spreading like fire. – An immunisation drive against measles starts today. It doesn’t matter whether children have been immunised or not, they have to go again. – News Editor* MVA, make use of private hospitals to stabilise serious MVA survivors and then transfer them to the State hospitals not the other way around. More lives could be saved – do what your mission statement claims! God bless.- MVA survivorGeneral* TO the driver who hit my cat on Frankie Fredericks Drive on Monday and left him there to die, bleeding from the mouth – how could you be so heartless? You callously snuffed out the life of a healthy and much-loved pet and showed no regard for him or those who cared for him. * WHEN the President moves to the new State House, what will happen to the old State House? It will be a a good idea if it becomes the official resident of the Prime Minister. I think so, what do you think my fellow Namibians.* AFTER listening to the speech of the President of Paraguay at the Rome Conference on food security, my suggestion is that our next Minister of Agriculture in Namibia must be a woman. Male ministers don’t share food from their pots at home with their family, that’s why they are failing to fight the crippling food crises in Namibia.- Motinga, Windhoek* AS a young person, I do not think Namibia can be developed by alcoholic young women and men. Young people are drinking irresponsibly. Please, the Government should relook at the times that bars are closed And I think 21h00 during the week and 22h00 at weekends are the right times for bars to be closed. – Worried young lady.* NO-ONE has a problem with BEE in our country per se, but the question remains: are they after money or do they regard themselves as partners in development of this country? Those who are after money should not be given tenders anymore because they are failing the Government and ultimately the nation. Roads and classrooms are constructed, but only last for a few months and then start falling apart due to cheap labour. BEE was well thought out, but does not serve its intended purpose.- PK, Oikango* WHERE is the organisation Namec or Namibian Men for Change? We would like to revive it if dead or re-join if it’s still alive. Rev [Nguno] Nakamela, please we ask for your help! * I AM tired of tenders going to Chinese companies. Can someone tell me about a Namibian company that got a tender in China! They happen daily* WE have the MVA to assist us when we are involved in road accidents. What happens if the accidents involve air/plane or water/ship or boat.Children Of The Struggle* WE Namibians, we want justice, in terms of election, employment, education, fair competition etc. Please the Government should unfreeze the 8 000 posts they froze for the struggle kids. Treat all Namibian youth equally. To be a child of a nurse doesn’t qualify you to be a nurse! – Concerned youth* GOVERNMENT leaders you are not fair by giving 8 000 posts to the exile kids only. What about us who were inside the country. We are also unemployed and suffered during the struggle.- FernyChinese Bursaries* WHY is Nanso quiet about the bursary issue. – Job.ACC Alert* NOT only Leadwood is being logged illegally. Every day illegal logging is going on in Kavango and Caprivi. Is the Forestry Department sleeping? ACC, please investigate!City FathersPlease …Goreangab Dam* CITY of Windhoek, please do something about Goreangab Dam. Innocent souls are drowning in this dirty water.* CAN the City Police kindly keep an eye on Bad Boys Bar in Eveline Street during weekends! People are stabbing one another with bottles. To the owner – get security people and make the safety your customers a priority.Education* EXAM anxiety: Students must put their finances in order prior to exam writing. But most of them will wait until the last moment to do it. That is when they start blaming institutions for all mistakes! It is nothing other than exam anxiety!* CAN Unam and the Polytechnic of Namibia please let us know if we have been admitted or not for 2010 because the time is flying and we need to know now. – TN Nashandi* I AM very frustrated by Unam lecturers especially those dealing with distance learning. It does not make any sense to write study guides for distance students with very difficult vocabularies which students do not understand. Write simple English so that students will learn with understanding. Find other platforms if you want to show off with your vocabularies. The author of ‘Managing Change Module’ is not serious about students’ education. Revise it please. – EdwardNBC* PLEASE NBC, put the presidential candidates on NBC TV.- Undecided voter and taxpayer* SPORT! NBC we need BBC sport back..In And From The Regions* PLEASE Hon [Richard] Kamwi come to our rescue. There is still unfinished work at Eunda clinic in Onesi constituency. If one is awarded a tender, aren’t they supposed to complete all the work signed for? In this case things work differently.* NSFAF (Goverment loans) please settle nursing students’ accounts at Unam’s northern campus, otherwise we are not going to receive our results! – Unam student in the North* WHEN is Otala Combined School going to get electricity? Please, Oshana Education Director and the Council for Okaku Constituency, we are tired of waiting. All cucashops and houses near the school are electrified. Why not the school?* THE cost of electricity went up this year and yet Nored can’t seem to deliver. Every time there are a few drops of rain in Ongwediva, the power goes off. This is frustrating and annoying and a great inconvenience. If Nored can’t deliver (with the current cost per unit, they should be able to), get someone who can and will.- Angry residentWalking with water* MANY thanks to our Governor of Ohangwena Region for all the services he brought us. Mr Nghaamwa, we are asking a favour of first to provide water at Ondandova village. These people walk a long distance to fetch water from Ongha village which is about 3 – 4,5 km away.- Taimi, Onandova village * DOES the Namibian Government know the following places: Tubusis, Anker, Aus and Otjimbingwe. Why are they also not benefiting from the: Basic Income Grant (BIG)? I think even a N$20 – or N$50 – will make a difference. Don’t you think so Namibia? – The BIG was only distributed in Omitara in an experiment to test how it works. – NewsdeskLost and Found* I J NAFTALI lost my old Namibian ID between Omtala and Game in Oshakati. Please contact 081-438-2301 if found. * I FOUND an ID Card for Kayeya Relindis. Contact me on this number 081-383-4268.* I FOUND Mateus Hiskia’s ID Contact me on 081-349-6958.* KEYS lost between Klein Windhoek Post office and Woermann Brock on 16/11. Please call 0812998120 or hand them to the Klein Windhoek post office. * FOUND lost ID of Shikalepo Elifas. Please call 081-278-0242 Service Please* WHY does Standard Bank not offer its clients cellphone banking? Secondly, why is there only one ATM at Rosh Pinah? Please know your customers’ needs.* NEW Start Centre in town, please be correct with your office hours. You closed before 18h00 on Monday, November 16 2009, but your office hours read as follows: Monday – Thursday 09h00 – 19h00.* CAN One Africa TV change its daily schedule and move back the popular soapie, ‘Storm Over Paradise’ to its normal hour 20h00 and repeats at 13h00? – Barbecues!* OSHAKATI Game, the customer toilets you pay N$2 to use are dirty. Please improve, this is unhygienic.
