SMS Of The Day
*I AM shocked to hear what the learners of mMwadhina gwaNambenge Secondary School are doing.

I was a learner as well but never talked back, insulted or beat back a teacher. If your teacher beat you and you went home to tell your parents you got a beating as well. This is not a Government issue. We as parents are to blame as well. If a child lives under your roof what is he doing on the streets around 19h00? My parents’ rule was at 17h00 you should be home and take a shower. Weekends were our days off. You went to play with friends and came back home around 18h00. It’s time we, as parents, take full responsibility for our kids behaviour before its too late.Food for Thought*TO the people who benefit from fraud money, don’t they feel ashamed when spending money that they didn’t even work for? We work very hard but with the little money we earn, it’s taxed and the little we have left we save it in the bank and now you come and defraud our small amount and our pension money. Who do you think you are? Do you think you can just play with people’s money like that? How do you expect us to live in future? If you want money you must work for it! We are not here to fill your pockets. You may think that you are too clever, but remember that you will die one day and leave everything that you stole on earth.Law and Order*JOSEA getting a death threat is just a drop in the ocean of what is going on behind the scenes and the terrible things that has already happened. The nation will be shocked if they find out how Government structures and tax monies were used and abused to protect a few elite. The true culprits are us, the public, for being so ignorant and unwilling to question and act for what is right.NursingA caring profesion*MR Kamwi answer the plight of your nurses! We want you to be our saviour because only you know the conditions under which we work, not Kahuure!*PLEASE Namibian nurses disunity will take us nowhere and let’s do away with selfishness! Senior nurses (nurses in senior positions) should take the lead and advocate for the junior nurses in the interests of the profession and the public. My special request goes to senior nurses such as Deputy Minister of MOHSS, director of PHC (MOHSS), regional health directors (MOHSS), chief control registered nurses of four referral hospitals, regional control registered nurses, chief health programme administrators, senior health programme administrators, senior control registered nurses, chief registered nurses, principal registered nurses, senior registered nurses, registered nurses and enrolled nurses to UNITE and speak with one voice that can be well understood.*MR Kahuure in connection with the nurses strike, it’s not Mr Shopati’s idea, it’s the nurses’ idea. The nurses do their work but you choose who to pay. Stop threatening them. They know their rights. Now they are moving to the next lever since you don’t want to hear them.Wal-Mart*WAL-MART I agree with Minister Hage Geingob. Wal-Mart should not be allowed to take over Mass-Mart. The Namibian population is so small that introducing Wal-Mart here will force a collapse of our retail sector. Wal-Mart is too big for our economy though it may seem good for poor consumers. It will create a perpetual economic dependence on foreign companies instead of us having our own type ‘Wal-mart’. Why can’t the South African and Namibian Governments buy those shares from Mass-Mart and then sell them to public or local companies over a period of time to empower them. Surely both countries can afford R16.5 billion.*MINISTER Hage Geingob needs to know that the judiciary are not subject to the whims and tantrums of politicians, but rather that the judiciary are puppets of the laws enacted by Parliament. An issue is only as important before the courts as the laws addressing it. The Minister and his comrades should have created laws ages ago to address the issues that he now raises re Wal-Mart! But instead Parliament wasted years debating unimportant and nonsensical bills like the communication and stock theft sentences bills! It’s far too late to talk about legislation now as laws cannot be backdated. The only disappointments in this unfortunate saga are you and Parliament, Sir, not the courts! *WHO pays the bill for the legal action? As taxpayers should we not have a say? Minister Geingob’s comments are not appreciated. Let business carry on as usual.*WAL-MART saga. I am sure that if Wal-Mart was a Chinese company we would not have all this fuss!GIPF Saga*CAN someone please leak the GIPF audit report to the media. You will do all Namibians a favour. Come on Wikileaks!Politics*THIS thing of our Government only giving privileges to people who were in exile is causing disunity in the country. Does it mean the country only belongs to those who were in exiles? At election time will it be only the returnees that are going to vote? *THE DTAYL spokesperson was going to have a point had he only condemned its SG Leslie Tjiriange and Secretary for Education, Benson Katjirijova, for making a public call for some national leaders to vacate office as ‘unconstitutional’ or ‘uncalled for’ but it cannot be ‘unprofessional’. What is a professional call anyway? Semba’s talk of lack of respect for the senior leadership of the party, removal from their positions in the youth league and from the party as a whole is undemocratic at its best. Running the ShowInclude the arts*PLEASE Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture open art programmes in the entire country, because there are many qualified and graduated students in visual arts, design, music, fashion, printing and welding. No matter whether we completed our studies from Unam and the College of the Arts and obtained our degrees and diplomas, we find ourselves added to the street wanderers’ because of unemployment. The question is how should we get off the street if there’s nowhere to work? And why is art not taken like an ordinary subject in Namibia? Please Tate KK look out for us.*CAN the Minister of Veterans Affairs speed up the programme and give the packages to all approved veterans especially those who got their envelopes last year, because they are supposed to be part of the new budget. Don’t wait because people are dying without getting their share and this give us orphans and widows a hard time running up and down, going to far places to re-register and give information about the deceased. Yes you can not avoid death but you are also taking too long.
We must think of others*TO all leaders of Namibia and its people, are you aware that some of our unemployed (both youth and adults) are trying to solve their poverty and hunger by resorting to ‘raiding your rubbish bins’ hoping to find some items of value? Including some of your leftovers from your table, food, drinks, and other items, just to keep alive? Is this what our parents fought for? Government this situation is not acceptable! It is a national disgrace! Show you care and do something to change things for the better. Please we beg of you!- Local Concerned NamibianLady May*LADY May – rude word cost N$20 000. Dr Psycho – rude word N$5 000. Where is the justice?*I AM surprised and disappointed that some people are defending Lady May for insulting Namibia on national TV in the name of Kanye West or Eminem. Up to when are we going to be puppets of the West? No wonder Libya is being attacked by the Westerners while Africa is just watching. Gadaffi is the only African leader who dared to stand up against the West on African matters. The only African leader to create funds to help poorer African nations. But today he is the enemy of his own people just because the West say so. Africans be careful and use your God-given brains! In and From the Regions*55th ALAN Congress: Are the ratepayers of the different local authorities responsible for paying for this congress? Many local authorities are in dire financial straits. Yet the expensive Hilton Hotel is chosen for this congress. I demand that a less expensive venue be chosen. Why must the rich be made richer at my expense. Or is it a case of support for friends?Eye clinic please*DR Kamwi we are tired of travelling for eye treatment. Can we please have an eye clinic in Walvis Bay?n MR CEO of Mariental Municipality, why must we pay extra when buying electricity after hours?- Concern Mariental resident. Labour IssuesShorter contracts please*TO the Minister of Mines and Energy. Why don’t you set up something like giving only six months contracts to the (c class) mineworkers so that many Namibians can be able to eat from the Independence cake also? I think it will cut the employment rate in this way and everyone will learn to save money, because he will have to wait for six months to start getting paid again. *DENTAL therapists/technicians humbly request Minister Richard Kamwi to review the salary structure of the above mentioned practitioners. We are poorly paid compared to other clinicians. Who knows the number?*CAN someone please publish a number where we can talk to someone that can help us Namibian people. South African companies get work in Namibia with very high salaries then still discriminate against Namibians, use vulgar language and threaten our people with their jobs. Someone needs to look at the mines.Education*I AM one of the learners attending Namcol at Rosh Pinah in Karas Region. It was a surprise to hear that both Grade 10 and 12 don’t have an English tutor. How can we improve our subject if there is no-one we can ask for help if we need it? I thought we were attending Namcol because we failed to make it because of lack of understanding. Dr Iyambo please do something. We are not happy to repeat Namcol for several years.Lost and Found*LIANDRE Beukes, born 1985/07/17, your ID, SSC and bank cards have been picked up in Windhoek. Please contact 081-287-4329.*ALBES Alina Joquelina your ID has been found. Contact Immce on this number 081-220-3017.*I TERESIA Nuuyoma lost my wallet with 2 IDs. Mine and for Iita Lydia between Outapi to Ruacana. If found please contact 081-205-2777 or 081-478-8533. Service Please*THE SMS page seems to work when informing the readership of the daily issues at hand. However, the fat cats in Government and the Municipality just wash their hands with absolute impunity over poor or absent service delivery.*MINISTRY of Home Affairs enquiries about a passport for two weeks went nowhere. There seems to be no-one in the office to take the calls. This is a joke! Responses to recent SMSes*I AGREE with Mondays’ remark on corruption and am deeply saddened by how insatiable greed and entitlement has gripped our society. It is been pursued with total disregard for the human rights of others, not even the principles of live and let live! It is indeed sad to see how the poor are suffering especially in winter whilst millions are disappearing almost on a daily basis. Thus the struggle for an equal society and justice continues!
