• THE Government should focus on pressing national issues, e.g. poverty reduction, HIV prevalence reduction, etc. It’s like our leaders do not value our rights. Why? Instead of the Spy Bill, concentrate on nation building before you destroy the whole Namibia.•SPY Bill: Namibia does not have enemies now. This bill doesn’t serve any purpose at the moment.

Instead of the Spy Bill, concentrate on nation building before you destroy the whole Namibia.•SPY Bill: Namibia does not have enemies now. This bill doesn’t serve any purpose at the moment. Please, don’t bury our precious democracy six feet under. This is an injustice. Oh God where are we heading to?
Food For Thought• IF the Spy Bill is passed, the NCIS should be able to identify the cowardly author of the Nghifitikeko e-mails. We are waiting for the bill.Spy Bill•FIRST we want the findings of all Presidential Commissions of Enquiry to be published publicly before the spying clause in the Communications Bill is given a green light. • IS it true that our SMSes will be read? (Minister Joel) Kaapanda, wake up man. If you are an SMS reading addict don’t try spoiling it for us. • IT’S time to stand up against an assault to our most basic human rights, the right to freedom of expression and the right to privacy. The Spy Bill threatens all this. • AG shame, don’t blame [Minister Joel] Kaapanda for the ‘Big Brother’ bill. We all know he is just following instructions.• I THINK the Spy Bill’s main goal is to listen to the RDP’s election plans.• ONCE the Spy Bill is passed, we will be monitored as to what we are doing and where we are going. I think if a referendum was to take place 90 per cent of peace-loving Namibians would vote against it. • WHY now? Is it because of the new party or are we criminals now? The question is will they monitor the MPs and former President too, as we are all Namibians falling under the same rule of law. • E-MAIL users, find out about ‘public key encryption’ on the Internet. That should throw a spanner in the gears of the future communication spies.- As far as we know, encryption will not be allowed in terms of the proposed legislation. – News Editor• FELLOW Namibians if we want change we better all vote strategically come November. The SPY Bill, corruption, nepotism, under-performance, intolerance, resource wastage, gap between rich vs poor widening … you name it! Let the ballot speak! Yes we can – Yes we will! • SPY Bill? Don’t waste our tax and donors’ money on things which don’t have a good benefit to the citizens, instead of buying enough medicines, improving health centres and recruiting more doctors for State hospitals. • SOMEONE missed the buck here, we are not America. Telling us that the bill was introduced in the US and it should also be introduced here. Are we dependent on the US and are they also going to amend article 13 in the Constitution so that they can infringe our rights as they so please? – Edwin• MY mother doesn’t open my letters and my wife can’t read my inbox for they respect my rights. What is the Spy Bill up to? What do they want to know about us when stories about them remain untold? Architects of doom go to your retirement seats! We have rights to stand up for! • THE Spy Bill is an apartheid practice, the whole country should stand up against it.Bouquets And Brickbats• I WOULD like to congratulate the Brave Warriors and the technical team and the supporters that were at the stadium and hope to see such results in the future. Keep it up guys. – Dave • PROPS to the Policeman (written about in yesterday’s The Namibian) who helped to return stolen property. You do the force proud.• PLEASE, it is the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation not the News Broadcasting Channel. Please MTC get serious, you are starting to bore me with your ‘What If’ ads. What if I asked you to be serious? Politics• NAMIBIANS, the truth is just the truth, whether you like it or not! Stop attacking the Founding Father (Dr Sam Nujoma), we are very proud of what he has done for this nation! For those who can’t see his job well done, then just keep quiet.- Anti-puppet- Even those who support the President’s enormous contribution to liberating Namibia have the right to disagree with some of his statements. It doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate the good that he has done, or don’t respect him. They are exercising their democratic right to differ. – News Editor• I AM always happy and inspired to read SMSes comparing Namibia with Zimbabwe. Zimbabweans are brave and patriotic, that is why they are in control of their land today. Let us go down Zimbabwe’s way if we want complete independence with land in our hands. Viva Zimbabwe for keeping the African fire burning.
Running The Show• CAN the Minister of Defence and CDF please tell us what happened to five years’ service automatic promotion? Are we unproductive in the force? General• I AM 48 and have a desire to complete my high school diploma. Can anybody tell me where I can go for night school to do that? Miss Namibia• I WOULD love to congratulate Susan van Zyl on her achievement as second princess of Miss Namibia 2009.- Ambrosius Eichab, Okahandja HAPPIE Ntelamo, congratulations the first Miss Namibia from Caprivi. My dear keep it up. I wish you the best in life. Katima Town Council and the business people please do something, even a party for this young girl please. See what is happening in other places.- Lenox Kamwi • CONGRATS To Miss Namibia and her princesses. I want to know what criteria were used in selecting the finalists? Most of the girls were short and the whole show was just a joke – how does one say Princess Diana was the princess of London but still manages to get a spot as a runner-up?- Short? The finalists visited The Namibian’s offices and most of them are very tall! – Newdesk• ONE Africa can you rebroadcast Miss Namibia 2009 please. • THESE Miss Namibia judges, why do they make wrong choices? I thought they looked at the way the girls walk, the looks and the brains. Because I’m really puzzled why Selma wasn’t chosen for the final three. At least Ntelamo took the main title. Congrats girl. And please next time get better judges. The nation is not happy with part of the results.• I SAT in shock and disbelief at the Miss Namibia competition on Saturday as one of the contestants named two of the four people she would most liked to have met as Adolf Hitler and Josef Mengele. Do we really want people like this in a contest that is a showcase for Namibia?- I was not present, nor did I see the show, however, in general, because someone indicates they would like to meet a controversial figure, it does not mean that they approve of what they did. Maybe they would want them to explain their extreme behaviour and ask them why they behaved the way they did? – News Editor• WAS I watching a descendent from the Nazis that came to Namibia after the war when one of the Miss Namibia contestants said that (Josef) Mengele and (Adolf) Hitler were two of the people she would have liked to have met? Why not go as far as to add Pol Pot & Jack the Ripper to the list? This is utterly disgraceful and why was it not picked up by the press? – Shocked NamibianIn And From The Regions• WHO are the people who are enjoying Government fruits? I grew up in Omaffa Akalipi village in Ohangwena region where we do not know what the government has done for us. We don’t know the taste of tap water until today. If we need to make telephone calls, we must travel long distances, but when it comes to elections we must vote. Please I would like to know the person who is in charge here.
PLEASE Honourable Minister of Roads and Transport, you are wasting your money by renovating gravel roads instead of just tarring the road. I am speaking of the road between Onayena Okankolo Epembe. Every year this road is under renovation.
Please help us with this matter. Thank you.- Concerned road user • NOW that every other instance has had a chance to utilise the N$25 million athletics stadium perhaps the athletes will finally get the opportunity to use the facility too.• CAN you believe it, there is no radio service at Vaalgras. What can you tell us about this?- Frustrated Vaalgras • HOUSES around Okahao town are in the dark. Hon Kapenambili how long should we wait? Is rural electrification no more or what?- Titsu • THE pay point at Keetmanshoop NamPost during pensioners’ payouts is total chaos. Elders are standing in a long queue for a whole day which is a bad image for and treatment of our senior citizens. Lots of bad things occur during those days such as fighting, bad language etc. Our elders suffer from hunger and some have even collapsed. I therefore invite the Governor and his councillors and NamPol to make a turn during such days to observe the situation and be convinced. I lastly propose that various pay points according to suburbs be established to minimise the burden of long queues as well the work load. Thanks in advance. – Concerned resident, Keetmanshoop. • MINISTER of Works come and see the road between Oshakati and Omungwelume. • WHY do we not have a shopping complex at Khorixas because every day we have to hike to Otjiwarongo to do shopping. Some of the people can’t afford to pay and we have to buy the expensive stuff here. We only have Multi Save. What is the Khorixas Town Council doing? We want Ok, Spar, Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Fashion World, Style, Jet and many more.Health Matters• (HEALTH) Minister (Richard) Kamwi we thank you that you encourage the Namibian nation to go for testing but we are still waiting for the results. We are so disappointed that we are still waiting for payment on the testing days we have worked 12 hours per day. It’s unfair don’t you think?
