SMS Of The Day
*THE West Africa Cable System (WACS) cable is to be launched on May 11. Can we hear a statement from Telecom/MTC how this will affect services (bandwidth, prices)?

Where are we heading?Bouquets and Brickbats*MR Pupkewitz ‘s legacy will live on. I think nothing will have pleased him more than the young people’s tweet tributes in the Bottomline. Inspired move by The Namibian.*THUMBS up for Sheena Magenya’s article ”How to stop trying to figure out what men really want” in Friday’s paper. You’ve nailed it! *THERE is no consideration for pedestrians at the new Ministry of Gender building. People risk their lives with oncoming cars when passing this building. City of Windhoek how can you approve these plans? Please help your residents. *THE flat screen display at the Hilton is going to cause a death if it continues to flash at the drivers on Independence Ave.May Day*IT’S Workers Day. How about doing something for the workers? Americans retire at 65, the Germans at the age of 67, Namibians and South Africans retire at 60 while their presidents retire at 70 plus. Shouldn’t they rectify the retiring age? African leaders are only thinking about enriching themselves. When will it change?Rest in Peace*SO long Uncle Pupkewitz! I have learned a lesson of a life time. I now know that the essence of a fulfilled life is to be born with humility, to live with humility and to depart with humility. Thank you uncle, you keep on teaching us even in death.- Nelao*THE visibly rich Namibian icon, Pupkewitz was buried in a humble coffin made of pine wood. Can this be a lesson to us? We like expensive things, unnecessarily it seems. *MAY the late Harold Pupkewitz rest in peace. Let us as Namibians follow his lead regarding Harold’s Grade 8 work ethic. Especially MPs, civil servants and sales staff: Stop slacking and build our nation!*CONDOLENCES to Mr Harold Pupkewitz’s family. May his soul rest in eternal peace. The nation expected real issues to be addressed, such as: rampant corruption, violence against women and children, Tipeeg, and then Cabinet ministers who grab land or receiving facilitating fees. To me, this was a speech by a president who is not in charge. Running the Show*WHY can’t the government create a ministry for pensioners? Our elders are not being taken care of properly. Their socio-economic status is something our leaders cannot be proud of. It’s because of these pensioners that we are what we are today.Education*NEWLY appointed teachers in the Hardap education region have been waiting for their salaries since January! We have families to take care of and we need to pay our accounts. Why do other regions like Omaheke pay their teachers within the first month of their service? Some of your workers are dishonest and rob you every day taking money at the back while you sit comfortably in your offices.
