SMS Of The Day
*MINISTRY of Youth please review your programmes. They are very outdated and do not respond to the needs of the youth and their expectations.

Food for Thought*EVEN if shacks have to be taken down, isn’t demolition with bulldozers a bit cruel? Couldn’t they be taken apart piece by piece, numbered and crated up and returned to their owners when land becomes available? I realise this may sound straight out of the Boy Scouts’ Book of Naive Ideas but many ideas once considered ‘naive’ are now part of the political mainstream! – Elias K.Bouquets and Brickbats*THANK you Comrade Ngurare for requesting the Swapo city councillors to acknowledge the needs of the voters who put them in power! We need more leaders with the old Swapo mentality concerning Namibians!*A BIG thank you to SuperSpar for sponsorship of the NFAs Galz & Goals soccer programme! Hope this will be a long and fruitful relationship especially for our Namibian girls!*IT is with total shock and sadness to read this morning about the death of Mrs Pietersen who died at the Katutura Hospital. I am in agreement with the family that their mother’s death is due to negligence and much more. *YET another accident on the Aris Bridge on Sunday, June 17. Do our calls fall on deaf ears? Please put lights on that section of the road, foreigners also use these roads. Why do we pay tax if no one takes us seriously?*TO the driver of the diplomatic vehicle who nearly run me over at the robots at PG Glass on morning Monday due to your haste, be aware, exercise patience and be tolerant of others.*THE Brave Warriors and their coach have let down the masses who were at the cold stadium very much. How can the coach change his a winning combination? His replacements were really poor and it’s time to get two or so old experienced players who are doing well at their clubs.*THE nurses’ home at Central Hospital is a nightmare. Block B toilets are packed with faeces. Toilets have been blocked for more than two months now. Minister Richard Kamwi come and see for yourself. The poor nurses have to live with the smell daily It seems you have given up on the nurses. No wonder nurses are always in such a bad mood. How I wish I could send photos to the nation. *THE municipality of Windhoek or City Police are very contradictory. They are destroying people’s shacks and giving them blankets when they are homeless.*MY father died eight years ago in the Katutura State Hospital with a broken hip after he allegedly fell from the hospital bed and today I can kick myself for failing to take the matter far and for falling for the lame excuses of the nurses on duty that specific night. So family of late Mary-Ann Pietersen, don’t leave any stone unturned and let justice prevail bring those responsible to book.Running the Show*MINISTER of Information Joel Kaapanda says ‘the country is on course’. There are people being evicted in harsh cold winter. These people are homeless, landless, jobless and hungry. If our leaders can ignore all this, aren’t we simply waiting to see the country sliding into abyss of despair?- PN*GOVERNMENT is it true that state-owned organisations have cost Namibia/Namibians about N$15 billion over the last 10 years! That equals N$7 500 for each man, women and child. A national disgrace! Prime Minister Angula get involved and sort it out!A Place to Call Home*GOVERNMENT is forcing farm owners to build houses for their employees. There are government employees working at government institution who are staying in shacks made of corrugated iron sheets. Can government assist these poor employees?Politics in General*ZIMBABWE army hungry. Shame on you generals who recruit 4 600 soldiers without budgeting. Just use the billions of US dollars the army companies are making from mining alleged blood diamonds.Banking on You*BANKS must cut fees, banks must reduce interest rate spread, banks must offer accounts for free, banks must stop repossessing houses, banks must be localised, banks this, banks that! Bank of Namibia you are on the wrong course! You are killing this industry.Law and Order*TRAFFIC officers please be behind Checkers in Werner List Street daily. Taxis stop on the red line as if it’s a taxi rank! The worst times are 13h15 – 14h00 and again 16h00 -17h30. Education*MINISTER of Education what do the parents teach our children at Narraville Primary School? Some of them have been there for more than two years. Please send us qualified teachers for the sake of our children.*THERE is too much corruption in the Ministry of Education then they blame teachers. The inspector and director of the ghost schools must also go. They are sitting in offices and dont visit schools. *MINISTRY please help us Unam hostel students. We are forced to move all our belongings(including electrical appliances) out of our rooms every semester. Where are we supposed to take them?Health Matters*AT Onandjokwe hospital I was shocked to see how patients, especially the elderly, are suffering in those wards. Their are lying in their faeces and urine all day until relatives come during visiting time to clean them. Food is placed on a table where they can’t reach it and those who can’t feed themselves end up not eating, unless relatives come to visit. Beds are not made up for 2- 3 days. Relatives must make up the beds for the patients. Bedridden patients don’t get washed as they should be. The bells for calling the nurses are never used or demonstrated to the patients. Nurses are crying for salary increases for what! For handing out medication or writing reports while sitting at the nursing station? Minister Kamwi please intervene.*BLOOD Transfusion Services of Namibia, where can we donate blood in Ongwediva?*MINISTER of Health you need to undertake a serious overhaul of Katutura Hospital. People have been complaining about the service and the overall attitude of the personnel there. I had a bad experience taking my sister who’s sick there. No porters, no help from the staff – only the blame game.*MINISTER of Health Tatekulu Omundohotola R Kamwi please review the law at the state’s hospital and clinic pharmacies. I’m a heart patient and I’m disabled. The doctor prescribes the medication for me for three months but I’m always given enough for one month. I have to come queue every month at the pharmacy just to pick up the medication. I have to use public transport. Why can’t I get it for three months once to prevent long queues and save taxi money?*A SMALL girl, 10, of Westerkim in Karasburg was taken by friends to hospital where she died as a result of an epileptic attack. My question is where are the parents and what’s wrong with the social worker?Labour Issues* AS a Namibian citizen may I know from the Ministry of Works and Transport if there were training policies ever put in place to train local Namibian pilots? If so, how many local pilots now after 22 years of independence can fly an A340, A319 or even the Boeing. In and From the Regions*WHY in Katima Mulilo town do people just shoot into the air with their guns?General*HI Tim Ekandjo I share your dream and I have some proposals.
