SMSes For Tues 4 Aug 09

* NAMIBIA – Land of the Brave? Please let us be brave enough to help one another out of poverty and suffering. Let us also be brave enough to demonstrate against corruption and self-enrichment, which are pushing this nation into absolute poverty. Let us take action against whoever is found to be corrupt, regardless of his or her status in society. Lord, have mercy upon Namibia!

Food For Thought* FAILURES are important in life because they serve as invaluable lessons from which we learn to solve our problems. Politicians never talk about their failures at election campaigns. So I’m suggesting that the issue of the presidential candidates’ debate on television must be made constitutional because, as taxpayers, we need to and have a right to hear from the next president’s mouth how his government will tackle our national failures e.g. unemployment, etc, during their reign.Message Of Condolence* TO the Tsamaseb family. God be with you.- Salonkia 4 Beth-El YouthBouquets And Brickbats* THANK you Muya Muya for making it categorically clear that no person under the age of 18 is allowed in your bar. I hope your fellow bar owners will take an example. You are a role model, keep it up. – Concerned citizen in Oshikuku* NBC-TV news, is it fair that TV news could be only Swapo activities. It makes your news boring.* NBC-TV what is it with the re-runs? Where are the movies? What is going on?And Justice for All* THE justice system has failed me again, the ‘killers’ of Thereria Afrikaner are smiling after regaining their freedom. God save my nation.* WHAT justice? Katutura cinema little girl suspect went free, the four men who were charged in the rape, assault, and murder of Theresia Afrikaner are off hook, who is next? Kareeboom? After no killer for Mabula, Sanna who is next?Taxi Talk* NATIS should introduce short-term taxi rights to control the so-called pirate taxis because now the papers take too long and some people have papers but no car for such operations, then they end up hiring them to pirates. So why does it have to be like that? If a car is out then the rights should also be out. Why should it became a private business at the expenses of Natis? * COMMISSIONER Kashihakumwa, please do something about taxis operating on public roads without permits. Most Oshakati taxis do not have permits and they are taking customers from those who have permits, especially on pay days. No.- Concerned citizen, Oshakati* I FULLY support and congratulate the City of Windhoek for the new rule on taxis. Taxi drivers must just adhere to the new rule. There are only two options for taxis owners and drivers: to adhere to the new rule or to quit the business, it’s very simple. Those ones who are protesting against the new rule are the ones who are promoting crimes. How many times haven’t they damaged people’s lives, if they claim that the signs are going to damage their cars. I hope that the next step will be to give all taxis the same colour.Running The Show* IF the Government is really serious about combating corruption, then they must wage war against it (corruption) the same way they have waged war against HIV-AIDS, because in the last 10 years, corruption has become an epidemic which cannot be ignored!* WILL the Minister of War Veterans and his staff be customer friendly by informing all war vets about the list of veterans’ names sent to regional offices in 13 regions. Instead publish the names in the newspaper and save the vets from travelling long distances just to find their names aren’t on. * GOVERNMENT must abolish its policy of not jumping ranks. It is frustrating, de-motivating and counter-productive, period! How can public servants be efficient when they are so de-motivated especially those with qualifications and competency? Reviewing salaries in the Public Service is long overdue. Salaries must also be aligned to qualifications. Less qualification, less pay. Life itself is an investment. Low investment, low dividends. General* I SUPPORT the idea of a N$10 contribution per month to set up a fund to benefit unemployed youth. You have my N$10. Incidentally mine is the only party which subscribes to BIG. It’s in our 2004 Manifesto.- Tsudao Gurirab* WHAT does resettlement mean to me, deprived, replaced and landless, if places like Omgombo West is a no-go area for those born there and whose forefathers lie buried there? Was the struggle not about land or ancestral land?- N-Sandy* I WAS attending the funeral service in Otjimbingwe of my grandma born 1930 at Ongombo West, also attended by Hon A.!Naruseb, and I started to wonder what resettlement means? Is it not giving back what was taken away? And in this case ancestral land?- #Neib* TO Team Namibia, we would love to buy all the Namibian fresh products. The problem is they are more expensive than the goods imported from SA How can we support and buy Namibian then! – Fan of Namibian products* I WANT to hear about the former Robben Island Prisoners’ Fund. Who is managing it and who is co-ordinating it or auditing it?- NdjekelaEducation* THE Ministry of Education must stop over-production of maths and science teachers, now we are in the streets without work.- NdatewapoDisconnects* NBC can you please repeat the last episode of ‘All About Camilla’. Some of us were out of the country. We came only on Sunday. At least the last episode. Please NBC.* WE want to get One Africa TV and Omulunga radio at Oshivelo. Please it’s boring here.* I STAY in Khorixas. I would like to know from our councillor Mr !Gobs, when are we going to have One Africa TV. We are tired of NBC.In And From The Regions* I WOULD like to ask the Government when they are planning to upgrade Aus? We don’t have NBC and can’t even listen to the news on radio. We don’t know what is going on within our country because we don’t have access. We are interested in knowing about Namibia.- A learner of Aus* PLEASE councillor of Outapi constituency, people in Omufitu Weelo, Oukwandongo, Omafa, Okapopo and Oukekete need light. Okanimekwa has a transformer. Why can’t you make another plan and distribute the power from that source of electricity to the mentioned areas?- A concerned personPolitics* WHAT’S Swapo Party’s website? – www.swapoparty.org – Newsdesk* SOME councillors are never in the office. Why not become councillors of Windhoek. Minister please see to that.City Fathers Please …Must be connected properly* MUNICIPALITY, keep your promises. Please remember the electricity cables are still hanging in the air in Rocky Crest, those cables belong underground as you promised. It is not safe especially during the rain season (lightning), and in case of a car hitting an electric pole. You are too quick to penalise your clients when it comes to payment adjustments, but you forget the same payers need proper services. Please cut from your entertainment chunk and think about the people you serve … service please. I demand a response from the honourables at our esteemed municipal offices in the capital please.n CAN the municipality educate us through our lovely paper how they come to the estimation amount that one pays for water and electricity. Imagine living alone but ending up paying N$900 per month. Muni stop milking us. Waiting for your response.- Liz* WHAT is happening in Windhoek? You get robbed of your handbag and cellphone for the first time, the people keep on targeting you for the same reasons. My son was robbed and then again on Saturday they tried. My son and I are scared. What can one do to stop this nightmare? They say you must go to the Police but if you go, they can’t help you get your stuff back, just make a case, and for what? Why only women and kids?Health Matters* MINISTRY of Health please do some thing at the Katutura Nurses’ Home, mostly the big building! We are using basins to bath while we are paying every month for nothing! – Ndavulwa* PLEASE media and NBC and One Africa TV, come to the Katutura Nurses’ Home to see how nurses are living in unhygienic conditions. We don’t take showers anymore due to broken showers more than five years now! – Tired resident* CAN the Ministry of Health please employ people who can do the job faster at Katutura State Hospital. You stand in the line so long just to pay and then you still have to go and wait who knows how long to see a doctor. Can’t they see that you go there because you are in pain.- RhynoLabour Issues* POLICE transfers are unfair. Some Police were never moved from their home regions for 19 years, while others were moved many times under the pretext their services are required elsewhere. The truth is that any Police officer took an oath to serve anywhere. Inspector General please look into the matter* WE were interviewed and underwent medical tests at NamPol. It has been a month now since they told us to wait. How long are we going to wait?* I AM member of (name supplied), working 16 hours per day with only seven days of annual leave. The salary is too thin and we have no access to labour organisations. Is this the way we should enjoy the fruits of our Independence? Please Minister of Labour do something!- Concerned employee Lost And Found* THE ID card of Gonteb Edrio Cayrion has been found. Call 081-274-7216.* THE lady who was a passenger in the black Toyota Tazz involved in an accident at the Single Quarters traffic robot in Katutura, on August 1, left her SIM card and some items in a car. She can contact the driver: 081-226-8478 to get her items.
