SMS Of The Day
Keep them safe
*ELEPHANTS escaping from Etosha. No mention of the fence being repaired! So the animals will again bear the brunt of our ineffectual Government companies by eventually being shot! Do your job for which you are being paid a monthly salary and have the fence repaired.
– M H
Food for Thought*I WANT all taxis, not only in Windhoek, but throughout the whole of Namibia, to have a device build into their cars not to exceed the speed limit of 70km/h. And the combis travelling long distances not to exceed 120km/h. This must be done when applying for the blue document, with the vehicle present. This way we will contribute to saving many lives and avoid speeding ticket as well as accidents.Bouquets and Brickbats*I WANT to congratulate Telecom. They came on a Sunday to fix our line, ‘because there was work still to be done’! That is the spirit we all should have. Thank you Telecom. – Karin Bottger*I THANK the Nature Conservation park ranger team for infiltrating those who killed those four elephants. Let’s conserve and appreciate our national resources. God bless Namibia and everywhere else!*A BIG thanks to Walvis Bay Against Crime. Very good, but don’t forget the illegal gambling jackpot machines in Kuisebmond.*THE ACC is investigating some RFA board members. Good work, but for consistency reasons instead of investigating RFA only, they should investigate all SOEs. We have so many board members doing the same thing (pocketing seating allowances although they are civil servants). Law and Order*THE 2000 diamonds confiscated from LLD Diamonds is the tip of the iceberg. Namibian Police and Ministry of Mines and Energy please investigate this matter thoroughly!Counting Heads*IS the census a reality? Try phoning the number in the advert; it rings and rings and rings. Nobody answers. The next number in the article has only an engaged tone! Where can one get answers?*THESE Census people started here in Walvis Bay last month. I asked him to produce his card. He did. And when turned around, he showed me it is from the NPC. I then asked him whether he was a Namibian because of his accent. He seemed to be from somewhere with a dirty white T shirt. The warning from Omulunga Radio was late. There have already been two people at our place.MVA*COMPANIES like MVA are spoiled by the Government with taxpayers money.*THE MVAF made a turn for the worse when it started changing laws many years ago to suit them instead of claimants. There was a massive outcry from those in the know, including the Law Society, but the Minister of Finance paid no attention. The Namibian should also get from the Law Society the written inputs from Mr Andreas Vaatz (a public document I assume) who predicted the current crisis and its cause some 6 years ago. Mr Muadinohamba simply bulldozed all that and similar constructive criticism.*GOVERNMENT is correct in not bailing out the MVA in the light of the jump in salary costs of almost 60% since 2007. NamPower should also be investigated before future electricity increases are approved. It does not make sense to continue paying a 14th bonus cheque to your employees and then having to raise tariffs to cover their costs! Education*I AM very concerned about what’s happening to our educational system in Aranos. The Grade 10 pass rate is very low and now the director wants to open grades 11 and 12, which is impossible. They want to convert Aaranos Primary into a high school. What about the children attending there? Dr Iyambo help.- Community member*THE Kavango Education region is in a total mess, especially the Department of Finance. The BETD inset teachers’ back pay has still not been sent to Windhoek. Two or three teachers got incentives, the rest of the teachers got zero in one circuit, payslips have to be collected from another circuit. Grade 1 and 2 learners have had no teachers since January. Visit this region and see for yourself or send a delegation!n DR ABRAHAM Iyambo please pay a visit to Panguleni Primary School. On July 19 our children were sent back home around 07h30 by the principal because they didn’t pay N$30 for the bazaar. Class is needed not a bazaar. Please do something.*BRAVO Comrade Minister! Windhoek is seen by many as the best but this has changed. If you visit schools you find 10 staff members out of 42 absent, reasons unknown in most cases. At times a teacher comes for the first four periods and leaves again. Some teachers opt to drive private school learners to excursions, leaving their classes unattended for the sake of an extra income. Khomas Region is a mess. Some management are overpowered by their teachers and secretaries who come one day and not the next. *WHY are Government loans so delayed before being approved? We want to pay for our studies. Are they not paid for?*CAN the Government tell us why they say the loans that they give to students include money for books, transport and accommodation if we have to wait until the end of the year to get that money?*THE truth hurts but serious things must be taken into consideration. People must leave politics and finish the work. Etalaleko Secondary School sewage system needs attention.*LISIKILI School was the first school to be build in Caprivi. Therefore we ask our Government to increase classes up to Grade 12 and add a hostel as well.*MINISTER of Education the students dress better than teachers. They must show our kids an example, but not dress as if they are in their kitchens or garage.*DR Abraham Iyambo come to Kalkrand in Hardap Region especially at A A Denk School. Teachers are forever on sick leave and this school is forever asking for money from us poor parents. And we don’t see what they are doing with the money. City Fathers Please…*WHOEVER decided on new trading hours at Herero Mall should without delay do the same to the shebeens in Eveline Street. *CITY of Windhoek please take care of the Donkerhoek park where water has run now for months. We need our park. Please clean it up and stop the water it’s now posing a health hazard for the Donkerhoek and Nuabamis areas.
In and From the Regions*WHEN will development projects come to Rehoboth.*WHY is it possible in an independent Namibia that people are working as casuals for 5 to 10 years without a salary increase especially in Lüderitz? The employees are union members but nothing happens.*THE councillor of the Rehoboth Urban East Blok E can you inform the public about the toilets built for every house? Must Rehoboth Urban East residents also get them? We are still waiting. Why have you stopped the project now?- Concerned Block E Sonder Water.Labour Issues*GOOD to have a minimum wage for domestic workers. Ndawu should ensure their members know their work such as cooking, ironing, cleaning and looking after babies. *I AM really tired of Windhoek Finance. I have been working as a family literacy trainer at Oshana Region but have only been paid for January and February. When will they work out my money for March and April as their children eat bread every day? My poor children also need even a smell of it. Sporting*I DON’T know if the draw favours Namibia. There are no easy games in international soccer and our team has a very poor record, home or away! I believe that we must stop praising our team till they prove to us that they deserve our support and lastly we must not act as if we have won the World Cup by beating Malawi. Lost and Found*NOLAN Jenneke lost his driving licence and ID recently in Swakop. If found please call or sms 081-666-0466.NBC*WHY does why the NBC Silozi Service play the same songs everyday and programmes too?Responses to recent SMSesCan be avoided*ROAD accidents are increasing because people choose to travel at night to avoid speeding fines. Knee jerk lawmakers and police are ignorant. Bring the fines down and bring a points system in. – Martin, Acacia. *IT is nonsense that speed does not cause accidents, only negligence does. High speed is negligence of other people’s safety.
