* MOVIE ‘Teza’. Well done Ethiopia, to show and share the viewing of the film that was newly screened there [the movie won the African Oscar]. When are we going to even view the multi-million Nam dollar video clip of the Sam Nujoma biography which was filmed more than three years ago? Or is it a private one?
* MINISTERS get a 24 per cent increase.

* MINISTERS get a 24 per cent increase. Why? Pensioners get N$450 a month, how about an increase of 24 per cent? – KG
Food For Thought
* THE money being spent on the ugly, unnecessary new street name signs should rather be spent on textbooks for our learners, or many other worthwhile things that benefit and help our country to grow. We are sick of all the waste! Wake up decision-makers!
* JUST want to remind people especially those who act as if Namibia belongs to them alone, that life is too short and that we are all passers-by. Therefore, let us treat one another with love and respect and try to make more friends than enemies. May the love of God lead us into all truths!
And Justice for All
* WHAT a justice system we have. N$15 000 for a house worth N$280 000 and 24 years in jail for sheep worth N$3 000 and a suspended sentence for murder makes a mockery of the justice system and the magistrates’ qualifications, listening and reasoning skills. Some people really need justice in they lives. Please pastors get to work by building more churches for a better society.
Politics
* THANK you President Pohamba, enough is enough. We the loyal members of the party are behind you and we’ll leave if you leave. – Okahao
* COMRADE President Pohamba, in your capacity as President of Swapo you have the right to start suspending some ill-disciplined Swapo Party members who want to undermine your authority. I believe that a third force is behind the SPYL to undermine Cde President Pohamba. – Martin Tjlvera
* MAY I know the number of Swapo parliamentarians absent in the second session of parliamentary sitting and how many from other parties?
* IT seems some people are bent on twisting the liberation history. The Tanga group is not the only chapter. It will be an act of dishonesty to delete the role played by SPYL under the leadership of Nashilongo Taapopi inside the country. Also remember the importance of the recent SPYL Congress under the leadership of Ngurare, Veikko and others.
* PENDUKENI (Iivula-Ithana) has just reminded us of a congress resolution according to which President (Hifikepunye) Pohamba shall be the sole Swapo candidate. What she failed to do is to give us a guarantee that that resolution won’t be ignored like the one sending her full time to the party head office.
* IT was not easy for President Pohamba to reshuffle his Cabinet, we all knew that. I’m responding to Upeuatjike’s SMS. The President is ruling with difficulty among his comrades. If not how can he be asked how he appointed foreign diplomats and that is being done by some members who are important before him. That’s a shame and they are destroying the party. – S N Shilongo
* IT’S amazing to watch how our Honourables have completely run out of ideas. We are thirsty for young blood to lead our capable nation. It’s a shame the likes of Ngurare, Kaaronda, Nekundi, etc, are seen as a threat to the true upliftment of our economy. Why are we so afraid of change if that change is for the betterment of our well-being. Cdes Ngurare, Kaaronda, etc, we confidently salute you.
* JUSTICE Minister Iivula-Ithana’s comments on Zimbabwe’s land reform borders on stupidity. This person should not be in office as she clearly does not know the reality. Should Namibia follow Zimbabwe, the same fate awaits it, however I believe there will be a far worse backlash than that experienced in Zimbabwe. Not only from the outside world but from within it’s borders as well. Justice Minister think before you speak, it is not hard to do and wake up, this is Namibia speaking.
* PENDUKENI Iivula-Ithana must be living on another planet if she thinks Zimbabweans are now ‘well-off’ because of successful land reforms in that country. Wake up and smell the coffee, Madam!
Messages Of Condolence
* WE thank you Lord for a mother like Susan (Tsvangirai). Please quiet the father and the six children.
* THANK you Susan Tsvangirai and may you rest in eternal peace. – Hugo
Bouquets And Brickbats
* I thank you for your great newspaper. Long live.
* AS a Walvis Bay resident, I am so happy about the appointment of B Uirab as CEO of NamPort. – Omapu
* DEAR Elijah Ngurare: Congratulations on your impressive and insightful views of women – the heroes of EVERY DAY, in last Friday’s edition of The Namibian. If all men shared your views, abuse and violence against women will be zero in the country. – Veronica de Klerk, WAD
Politics In General
n THE African Union must know that there is no one above the law, one day, somewhere, the law eventually catches up with those who break it, and when that happens there will be nowhere to hide. Crimes against humanity must never go unpunished, tyrant leaders in Africa must watch out. Well done ICC. – Shepard
Running The Show
* WHAT other evidence of useless leadership, other than the current one that cannot even deal with floods. It is meetings after meetings since last year. It’s time we get some solutions around here.
* CAN somebody please tell me why we have deputy ministers at all ministries? Are they not capable to act in the absence of the minister that other ministers have to act?
Tuned Out
* I DO not know why the nation is crying over the banned Chat Show, when they don’t vote for the right party. And anyway this is a good business opportunity for other radios to introduce chat shows.
* AS a paper which has the ordinary man/woman’s concern at heart, I guess you should give your readers more SMS space to air their opinions. NBC decided to stifle public debate. – Kgalemang Makgone – Thanks, we’re working on it. – News Editor
* NAMIBIANS, it is obvious the Chat Show has become a campaign platform for a particular party. Can’t we do other things rather than listening to premature campaigns?
* UNCLE Paul has seen how tribalism has destroyed many African countries. He is a war veteran. He needs African respect. For our leaders and the elders. Open Line on NBC should be educative not destructive.
General
* ARE the number plates on MTC vehicles legal? They do not seem to be yellow or personalised white. Can all corporate entities have their own design?
* CITY Police of Windhoek is your job to prevent crime or to beat people who are looking for their jobs on the highways? We are tired of being chased. – Gongeleni
* WE Namibians are not allowed to see our family members upstairs at Home Affairs without reporting at the checkpoint but Chinese are just passing freely. Why?
* RESPONSE to the one that wrote that the NPC bakkies should be given to the chiefs! Those bakkies are to be used for the NHIE Survey 2009-10. As a taxpayer I feel my tax should be used for education!
Labour Issues
* THE Rössing surplus fund issue keeps coming up. Can Rio Tinto, Rössing Uranium, NMFISA, the GRN, A Forbes, committee of concerned former members or any one please shed some light on the issue. Stories going around are confusing and depressing. Info please!
* CAN the NDF and Police departments please explain how their selection processes work?
* EDUCATION Swakopmund Regional Office, can you please tell us what happened to that SP2 post interviewed for on 17/07/08? Feedback needed for the successful and unsuccessful candidate. Thank you.
* PLEASE Ministry of Environment and Tourism please at least train Grade 10 dropouts as tour guides or implement a programme for us to be trained in your ministry. Or allow us to attend your workshops please.
In And From the Regions
* TOWN Council Opuwo until when will we stay without water in Otuzemba location? Please inform your contractor to come and finish his task. We don’t want to be victims of cholera because of your inability to render the most urgent services. Please act before we call ACC to rescue us! – Concerned resident, Otuzemba
Education
* ONGWEDIVA College please give your second-year students money for their SBS or at least provide something for them to eat during SBS. They are forced to dip into their own pockets.
* I AM a very concerned parent. My child is attending a school in Okahandja in Veddersdal but is struggling with textbooks. What is going on there? Please inspector of the region do something. Because we are paying school fees. – Concerned parent
* UNAM please speed up the distribution of study material for CES students. Your courses are too much expensive and your services are poor. Improve please.
Service Please
* SOUTH African Airways, please discipline your people at Jo’burg Airport. They broke into my luggage. And to complain at the airline they are saying that there is nothing they can do. So the passengers have to keep on losing their goods because there is nothing to be done. It is very frustrating.
* SHAME on the Police officer at Kuisebmond Police station who cannot tell the difference between the original and a copy of Grade 12 statement results. When he realised that he was wrong he started shouting. Shame on you sir, next time leave your stress at home.
* I AM fed up with Otjomuise mobile Police station, on Monday I went to make a declaration about my phone which got stolen on Sunday at the church and was told that they don’t have statement paper.
