*WHO will address this problem in Namibia? I always read in the print media about people eating at dumpsites in other parts of the country. I was shocked on Saturday, June 30 to learn about the same happening in Otjiwarongo. To make matters worse, I found one of my best learners eating in this area. I wish I had a house to adopt this kid. But a poor teacher, I can’t afford a house and a car at the same time. African leaders, God is angry at you.

Food for Thought*I WONDER if the corruption that rocked the Ministry of Education is only limited to that specific ministry alone?Bouquets and Brickbats*I WANT to thank the Swapo Party leadership for blocking the Malema visit. As we all know he is an outspoken boy who doesn’t respect his elders. He criticised the Botswana President and sowed a seed of hatred between Robert Mugabe, Morgan Tsvangirai and the white community in Zimbabwe. Thank you Swapo visionaries for blocking his visit. It was going to be a platform for his ANC campaigning and would cause rebellion within our beautiful Namibia.- BC
*DEAR Editor, I am writing a book entitled ‘The Audacity of Mediocrity’. In it I explore the penchant of opposing everything coming from brilliant minds such as Alfredo Hengari, Gwen Lister, Alexactus Kaure, Paul Shipale, Joe Diescho etc. and how we instead stoop so low as to invite one Julius Malema to deliver a public ‘lecture’. Too bad the Swapo leadership intervened for the wrong reasons.*EXCELLENT letter by Marie Johansson. Gymnasium go and learn from Onamulunga Combined School. Refers to The Namibian June 29.*TO Marie Johansson for her article entitled ‘Better than spanking’. Teaching in a ‘traditional’ place like Ondangwa is not the same as teaching in Windhoek. In the North, in general, learners have more respect for their teachers because of the respect they have for their parents. In Windhoek it is the exact opposite because of the lifestyle we have here. I suggest you come to schools in Windhoek to see for yourself the type of learner there is, especially in these rich schools before you write a rosy, narrow-minded article like you did. There should be no difference in a parent disciplining his child for coming home late and a teacher punishing a learner for coming to school late. These are valuable lessons that one will learn and use for the rest of ones life.* ON the question of the Targeted Intervention Programme for Employment and Economic Growth (Tipeeg) of Friday, June 29. Unfortunately you are asking the question to the wrong people. Ask them when they are travelling, and coming back from workshops and going again, and coming back and going on study and sick leave and so on. They hardly concern themselves with this project.*I WAS a regular reader of The Namibian newspaper but I think I have to make some considerations. How can you publish a cartoon of the cross which is a sacred symbol of soul-saving religion.Without Fear or Favour*MR Prime Minister thanks a lot for your response to Mr Hengari as well for the advice you gave him in your concluding remarks.*CITIZEN Angula vs Hengari! Citizen Angula has hit the nail on the head! Not that I expect the citizen to describe himself – I think there is an abundance of references for the citizen in the form of his mentors, peers and lots of apprentices! As for brother Hengari my only advice is to reflect a bit and note that: ”Knowledge that does not have the blessings of wisdom may be harmful”!*WHO was Citizen Nahas Angula referring to when he wrote “…I suspect he did not write the article in question…his candidate did” referring to an earlier column written by Alfredo Hengari that appeared a week earlier in The Namibian? Is that a candid passing remark aimed against Hage Geingob? It is a well known fact to Citizen Angula that Hengari worked in the Office of Geingob when he was the PM at the time. If that’s not the case which candidate was he referring that could have written the column other than Hengari himself? Citizen Angula should come clear and straight if he still harbours presidential ambitions rather than riding on the so common rhetoric of “…if my comrades assign me a certain function I shall not refuse”.
*CITIZEN Nahas Angula! Everybody knows that the truth hurts. Hengari hits the nail on head about you in his recent column. Recently you stated an irrelevant statement if not propaganda that only the children who were born in exile are true heirs to Namibian independence. So what did you mean by that?*CITIZEN Nahas. Paul Joseph Goebbels did not write one word of the book ‘Mein Kampf’. Hitler did. The quote about the bigger the lie never appeared in it. Make sure about your facts before trying to belittle Hengari.*CITIZEN Nahas has accused Hengari of not providing facts to back up his analysis Sir can you be different and provide us with facts to substantiate your claim that Hengari is acting for another candidate? Otherwise you are no different from each other. With all due respect, I have heard you make those claims before.*AFTER reading all the articles on pages 10 and11 I get the impression that Nahas Angula thinks he is holier than thou.­­ There is more sense in reading Alfredo Hengari’s article than Nahas Angula’s article. Just one question. What happened to our education system? Housing and health. Does Nahas Angula ever visit the western suburbs of Windhoek where his people are demolishing the houses of the poor?Law and Order*MR Conradie take your colour problems somewhere like maybe Djibouti. We Namibians are easygoing people in case you don’t know. Happy empowerment somewhere else.*CONRADIE is heavily into ’empowerment’. Just like he ’empowered’ himself with World Cup tickets and was found guilty by the World Rugby Board. And then to make me really feel sick he invokes God and ‘his people’!*MR Conradie is telling of what exists and is regarded as normal in Namibia.*I SUPPORT you Conradie. Let the critics rot as they don’t know what they talking about.*MR Dirk Conradie please use your influence as MTC chairman so MTC can donate food to empower your poor people eating from the dumpsite.* MR Conradie is an example of what my country is turning into. Board members, permanent secretaries and people entrusted with positions of authority using their offices and influence to advance personal interests at the expense of the organisations they are supposed to represent and our collective national interest! I hope the law makes an example of him to restore our hope for our children’s future.Suggestion Box*THERE are a lot of corruption cases in Windhoek alone. We want an SMS line or box to deliver our complaints. Please help to save us from our biggest enemy.Health Matters*I AM shocked at the shortage of condoms in the country. Nasoma has closed its offices now we do not have access to condoms. We have run out of condoms since January. Can the Ministry of Health and Nasoma tell us when we will be provided with condoms?Labour Issues*SUPERVISORS in companies and government ministries please stop proposing or having affairs with your juniors, secretaries and the people you work with. And stop showing interest in or treating them as special, giving them information and undermining other co-workers. You are creating problems and conflicts because these very same people will not respect their co-workers because they have your back up.*I AGREE that we the people blacklisted on ITC should be refused credit but why should we be refused jobs? Namibia Employers Federation please explain.*WHEN teachers are not doing their work the whole country will know and talk about it, but when the Ministry of Finance does not provide payslips on time they keep quiet. What are they doing in their offices? NBC*DIRECTOR General Aochamub, boxing promoter Nestor Tobias, as well as other stakeholders, can you please come together and discuss the quality of the commentary at boxing matches that are eventually broadcast on NBC TV? A lot of blood, sweat and tears has gone into bringing Namibian boxing to where it is today, but most of the commentary is of such poor quality, ill-informed and biased that it makes it unpleasant to watch local boxing on NBC TV. The most disturbing thing is when the fight is a real cracker, but the commentary is poor.In and From the Regions*WE, the residents of Eagle houses in Ondangwa along the main gravel road from Omwandi filling station, are drowning in the stench of sewage. Please town council workers come and rescue us.*WHY do people in Rundu use government cars to take their wives and kids to schools? If the government allows them, then it must be for all the people.Responses to recent SMSes*I STRONGLY agree with the SMS about the dogs in Rocky Crest! Owners do not take care of them and don’t even let them into the home (or yard) during the night, so they roam freely and wake up sleeping babies. They also bark at and frighten the children every morning on the way to school making them too scared to make the journey! SPCA please come and take these poor neglected dogs away!
