SMS Of The Day
*THE football match between Namibia’s under 23 national team and the South African under 23s was the best performance that I have seen in a very long time. Our boys gave 100% on the night. Although the South Africans bombarded them with attack after attack in the final 10 minutes of the game; they kept their nerve and defended well to walk away with a very famous win. Congratulations to the coaches for job very well done.

Food for Thought*ALL talk. I am touched by the issue of Namibians running for expired food. It gives me nightmares! Is this the Namibia we have come to know? Where people still die from hunger? Has greed really taken over our beloved nation? With resources in abundance, have the minds of those we love to empower really turned against us? Leadership in Namibia is losing meaning. Have we forgotten that action speaks louder?Bouquets and Brickbats*THE national under 23 football team has brought back some pride for the Namibian football lovers. Keep working hard boys and I and many fellow Namibians are sure that you guys are our next Brave Warriors. *GREAT job Mr Kaandjuka with the technical team and the Brave Warriors B side. You impressed the nation at large with the 1 – 0 win over the SA under 23 team. Keep up the good work.- Ditwo, a proud fan.*DUDLEY, I have always been a sympathiser against seal culling but your ‘cartoon’ brought tears and sadness. Well done – you make the point very clearly. We must stop this awful brutality. Our government gave away our country’s fish resources to greedy foreigners – we saw it happen – yet the seals take the blame. Speak up, Namibians!Horn of Africa*MY family and I love what MTC and the Red Cross are doing for the people of Somalia. We Namibians should be thankful for the peace and stability we have in this country. For those at the dump site, some of whom we know personally, get a job please. Stop this easy way out.- Lanci*IT is written in the Bible that it is more blessed to give than to receive. The reason why the western countries are prospering is because they always give a helping hand to the 3rd world countries despite their own problems. So please Namibians let us give a helping hand to our fellow Africans by donating to Somalia. They really need our help.- PandiPolitics*PRIME Minister please do the honourable thing and apologise to the nation about abusing your power regarding the case of printing that Swapo report with taxpayers’ money while people are starving around us, searching for something to eat on the dumping sites. Show the nation your strength of character.- Disappointed ComradeCity Fathers Please…Must be done carefully*MUNICIPALITY the way you de-bush your areas full of grass is not safe. Burning bushes as a clean-up programme close to people’s houses is dangerous to the people who reside in area. Please cut grass and refrain from burning.*CITY of Windhoek must give us electricity, especially at Otjomuise and Havana. How many people lost homes because of candles? We are going to pay for it, it is not for free. Please do something.*WE residents of Aswan High Dam Street, Goreangab Dam have a big problem with electricity being cut off around 19h00. Some of us want to study during the night. City of Windhoek light is life. Our stuff*WE are tired of losing our valued furniture at Tilda Viljoen Street, Goreangab Dam because of the electricity which is always on and off. We tried calling the Municipality yet nothing was done and we are always paying for all the services including power. Please something should be done, otherwise there will be chaos in our street because botsotsos are targeting us when the lights are off.Running the Show*AIR Namibia’s business plan will not work. Unless a new fleet of aircraft is bought. The two Boeing 737-500s are forever delayed due to technical problems. Therefore I humbly ask the line Ministry of Works and Transport to monitor Air Namibia on a daily basis. Even appoint someone from your Ministry. *SOME of us do not own any land in Namibia because our forefathers stayed in towns. Our livestock have been kept by good samaritans for almost four years now. Can the Minister please consider us for resettlement even in Eiseb, Okamatapati, Otjinene etc because there is unused land in those areas. Only water is a problem.GeneralWhy not dates?*APPEAL to the naming and renaming committees of the city and towns within Namibia’s border (esp Windhoek) to consider also the important dates on the Namibian calendar eg 21st March, 4th May, 26th August etc for some streets instead of the VIPs, heroes, trees, birds and animals. Talking Taxes*CAN someone tell us the taxpayer when the illegal gambling jackpot machines will start to pay tax? Education*THE Chinese scholarships are just for rich people who have access to the Internet. Why didn’t they advertise them through regional councillors, radio or even newspapers so that even poor people in villages can apply?- Nguwahepa Hepelela, Elim.*DOES Unam have the capacity to invite all applicants through the Mature Age Entry Scheme to write the test? Last year I got my invitation letter to the test three months after the test. *NANTU alert. IOL and Trustco made empty promises regarding repayments of over deductions and to stop deducting. Please Nantu find out why are they not fulfilling their promises to us! *DR Iyambo how can one teach Grade 2 well with 47 learners in one room? What does the teacher-learners ratio mean? *DR Iyambo do you know that a once flagship school the HTS in Academia is falling apart? Kids are living in deplorable conditions in the boys hostel. The hostels are so filthy and theft is rampant. Sir, what nation are we grooming? In and From the Regions*WHEN does the Ministry of Works and Transport intend to tar the road between Swakopmund and Henties Bay? The road is muddy, slippery, full of potholes and destroys our cars and might cause severe accidents in the future if not taken good care of. – MUS*WE the residents of Smarties Township at Okahandja have submitted a petition about the streetlights but to no avail. The problems are ongoing housebreakings and theft during the night time. Town Council what is your problem?*I AM a parent of a child at Khomastura Secondary School in Khomasdal. When my child enrolled she chose German as one of her subjects and until today she has not been introduced to the basic German terms. Are my child’s results not going to be affected by poor marks my child might get in this subject? The April progress report did not reflect any mark for German. What about the August examination? I am concerned!*OKAHANDJA Municipality please revise your water tariff. It’s so expensive that we cannot even plant veggies in our yard because of the water. *PLEASE our Government when are you going to start distributing flood donation foods and drought relief food it the rural areas? We are dying here in the flood prone areas in the North. Councillors and village head men are discriminating. They only identify certain homesteads in the villages but we all have been affected. Why are all affected citizens in towns receiving foods and materials donated?- Concerned citizen, Etayi Constituency, Omusati Region)Please Help*I HAVE been introduced to u-care where one has to pay N$150 every month. The head office is in Pietermaritzburg (KZN, SA). Is this another scam or pyramid scheme?*I AM Johanna Indongo at Onayena. I am looking for my siblings. Could you please guide us as to where they could do this, as there is no embassy in Mauritius. Or who they could contact regarding this matter.*CAN anyone explain to me how news papers get to other regions, but they don’t reach Kunene Region. We are so behind here in this region. Whenever Manchester United of England does something it becomes part of NBC National news, but when other teams do something, not to mention local teams, they don’t feature anywhere in the NBC National news. What are we benefiting as a nation from Manchester United stories? There are many issues of national interest that we need to hear as a nation but not Manchester United stories. Let Manchester United stories be part of the sport programmes not national news. This is not only bias but not just necessary. – U2, Ongwediva! Taxi Talk*NOW it seems Nabta is only concerned about loss of their income but not concerned about the daily struggle of students and their safety. What selfish reasoning. Service Please*Please MTC we need network coverage at Omuramba south in Opuwo constituency, Kunene Region. Responses to recent SMSes*TO Waltraut in answer to your SMS. Are principals to be blamed for all the ills of the society? *LET us stop the selective justice applied by the CoW and the Namibian police. Namibia is run on the basis of Constitutional law. The Herero Mall is now a curse but what law is being used to close down and teargas the place, which is not applicable to other outlets doing similar business (eg. Single Quarters, Eveline Street etc). *WOULD the person who allegedly witnessed the security guards breaking into cars at the nurses home please contact Kambala Eliaser on 081-261-2475.
