Skeleton of missing Walvis resident found

THE skeleton of a Walvis Bay resident, Petrus Shoomgwa (44), who was reported missing in July 2008, was discovered in the dunes near Narraville on Friday.

According to Police Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa, a member of the public discovered the remains and called the Police. The skeleton was still dressed in overalls, a jacket and cap. Shoomgwa’s widow identified the clothes as his. A handgun was found next to the skeleton, and its holster was found in the jacket pocket.’The weapon – seemingly a pistol – was broken in pieces, maybe because of the long exposure to the elements. An investigation has to be done to see if the man committed suicide, or maybe he was murdered,’ Kashuupulwa said.
