Simon & Nangolo win golf competition

Sofia Simon and Mervin Nangolo won the mixed pairs American scramble and betterball competition at the Windhoek Golf Club over the weekend. 

Male golfers were encouraged to get non-golfing females to join them in a golfer/non-golfer mixed pairs competition, while there were also categories for golfer/golfer mixed pairs; golfer/golfer pairs, and golfer-non-golfer pairs. 

Simon and Nangolo won the golfer/non-golfer mixed pairs category with 44 points, followed by Tashia Kalondo and Claud Abrahams on 36.

Martha Shifengula and Lebeus Kangandjela finished third on 35 after beating Nelago Amutenya and Justus Amutenya; and Talita Grobler and Danie van Schoor on a count-out. 

Claris and Munya Chipfupya won the golfer/golfer mixed pairs competition on 49 points, followed by Lucy and Sponks Mohale on 48 and Jolene and Melt van Schoor on 47.

Manfred Bledou and Hylton Villet won the golfer/golfer pairs competition with 52 points, followed by Quintin Esterhuizen and Chris du Plessis on 47 and Brad Landrey and Archibald Norval on 44 points.

Andre Olivier and Albert Lombaard won the golfer/non-golfer pairs competition with 42 points, followed by Raymond van Zyl and Tiaan Snyman on 40 and Vilho Ndaikile and Wisdom Moyo on 39 points.

Four nearest-to-the-pin prizes were won by Justus Amutenya on the third hole, Raymond van Zyl (ninth hole), Chris du Plessis (13th hole) and Ian Wood (17th hole). 

The Windhoek Golf Club will host the seventh monthly medal competition this coming weekend.
