MAX Siedentopf of the Namib Swimming Academy provided the best performance at Gala 5 and 6 which was held at the Western Suburbs Pool over the weekend. The 18-year-old Siedentopf won the Men 17-18 year old 50m breaststroke event in a time of 30.99 seconds which gave him a total of 693 FINA points. His winning time was just outside Byron Briedenhann’s national age group record of 30,55 seconds which he established at the World Swimming Championships in Rome in July this year.

Siedentopf also established the sixth best performance of the meet when he obtained 587 FINA points for winning the Men’s 17-18 50m freestyle in a time of 25,67 seconds, which was just outside Quinton Delie’s national record of 25,01.Other swimmers who excelled at Gala 5 and 6 were Christine Briedenhann of NSA, Christine Minders of Dolphins and Byron Briedenhann of NSA.Christine Briedenhann established three of the top ten results, while Byron Briedenhann and Christine Minders each established two of the top ten results. – www.namibiasport.com.na
