Showjumping, dressage to jumpstart new year

NAMIBIA’S most prestigious equestrian event, the Swakopmund Reiterverein Showjumping and Dressage Tournament, will take place for the 51st time at the coastal town early next year.

The event will be held from January 4 to 6. Organiser Silvia Snyman says more than 100 horses and riders from across the country will participate in what is considered the most competitive showjumping and dressage competition on Namibia’s equestrian calendar.International course builder Raymond Scott will be responsible for setting out a competitive course to test the skills of the local riders, while Ernst Holtz, international dressage judge, will also grace the event.Another international participant, former Olympic competitor Roger Hesson, will strut his stuff against local riders.Snyman said the three days would consist of several categories in dressage and showjumping, although the events to look forward to are the Equitation for children and junior riders, while the Fancy Dress Musical Kuhr is certain to entertain spectators. The Dressage and Showjumping Derbies are also main events, not forgetting the Showjumping Championship and the “Top Ten”.”The tournament will be a competitive and spectacular highlight for the start of the new year,” Snyman said.Organiser Silvia Snyman says more than 100 horses and riders from across the country will participate in what is considered the most competitive showjumping and dressage competition on Namibia’s equestrian calendar.International course builder Raymond Scott will be responsible for setting out a competitive course to test the skills of the local riders, while Ernst Holtz, international dressage judge, will also grace the event.Another international participant, former Olympic competitor Roger Hesson, will strut his stuff against local riders.Snyman said the three days would consist of several categories in dressage and showjumping, although the events to look forward to are the Equitation for children and junior riders, while the Fancy Dress Musical Kuhr is certain to entertain spectators. The Dressage and Showjumping Derbies are also main events, not forgetting the Showjumping Championship and the “Top Ten”.”The tournament will be a competitive and spectacular highlight for the start of the new year,” Snyman said.
