FORMER fugitive and murder convict Lazarus Shaduka was flown to Windhoek this morning on a police helicopter that landed at the the Eros Airport where he was welcomed by top police officials.
Before his arrival in Windhoek, Shaduka, who surrendered to the Namibian consulate at Ondjiva in southern Angola yesterday, was picked-up by Oshikango police commander Erastus Kamati and Ohangwena police chief commissioner, Tylves Kapolo, from Ondjiva early yesterday afternoon.
He spent the night at the Oshikango police station before being flown to Windhoek.
In Windhoek, he was accompanied by senior police officers from the airport to the Windhoek Central Prison where he surrendered his possessions before being driven to the Windhoek Central Hospital’s X-ray department.
He was then driven back to the prison where is he expected to remain for the rest of his sentence.
Police have been on his trail since 2012 when he was convicted of murdering his wife, Selma Shaimemanya (33), but absconded hours after the Supreme Court sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment.
