Sewage At Satotwa Poisons Village

Sewage At Satotwa Poisons Village

ALLOW me a space in your good newspaper to express my concern about the sewage dam at Satotwa village in Rundu, Kavango Region.

Firstly I would like to know if there was a feasibility study done before building a sewage dam in that area. Also this dam has been built near the road, by the villages and opposite the vegetable garden for the women’s project, where they used to grow different vegetables like cabbage, onions, tomatoes among others. What is happening now is that the wastewater, which is coming out from the sewage dam, has formed a small lake at the edge of the vegetable garden. Now whenever you are passing that area you will face a horrendously bad smell. Many people have to use this road, because it is the main road between Rundu and Nkurenkuru. My concern is about the health of the people in Satotwa and those who are staying near the sewage dam and the road users and people who are buying vegetables in that garden.I am requesting the Rundu Town Council to look in this issue and to see if there are other ways to prevent the wastewater forming that lake.Martha Matjayi, RunduAlso this dam has been built near the road, by the villages and opposite the vegetable garden for the women’s project, where they used to grow different vegetables like cabbage, onions, tomatoes among others. My concern is about the health of the people in Satotwa and those who are staying near the sewage dam and the road users and people who are buying vegetables in that garden.I am requesting the Rundu Town Council to look in this issue and to see if there are other ways to prevent the wastewater forming that lake.Martha Matjayi, Rundu
