DAR ES SALAAM – Belgian Tom Saintfiet has been named as new coach of former Tanzania football champions, Young Africans, club officials said yesterday.
The much-travelled Saintfiet, who has previously coached the national teams of Namibia, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia, and was offered the post of technical director in Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in March, will lead the Dar es Salaam outfit in their defence of the regional CECAFA Club Cup title starting here on July 14.’Yanga is lucky to have an experienced coach in Saintfiet. The new coach will start training with the team this week and his first major task is to defend the CECAFA (Kagame Cup) which begins next week,’ Young Africans spokesman Louis Sendeu told AFP.Yanga, who fired Serbian Kostadin Papic after finishing third in the Tanzanian league last season, are scheduled to open their title defence against newcomers, Atletico of Burundi on July 14. – Nampa-AFP
