PRETORIA – The retail price of petrol is to rise by 22 cents a litre from midnight, the Minerals and Energy Department said yesterday.
The wholesale price of diesel with a 0,3 per cent sulphur content will increase by 14,7 cents a litre and that of diesel with a 0,05 per cent sulphur content by 13,7 cents a litre, the department said in a statement issued in Pretoria. This increase brings retail price of 93 octane petrol to R4,39 a litre in Gauteng and R4,26 a litre at the coast.Wholesale 0,3 percent sulphur content diesel will cost R3,65 a litre in Gauteng and R3,52 a litre at the coast. The wholesale price of paraffin will drop by 5 cents a litre. The single maximum national retail price of illuminating paraffin – the highest price at which the commodity may be sold – will be decreased by 8 cents to R3,28 a litre. The largest contributor to the petrol and diesel price rises was a 10 cents a litre increase in fuel tax, which comes into effect on Wednesday – as does a 5 cents a litre increase in the Road Accident Fund levy on petrol and diesel. These increases were announced by Finance Minister Trevor Manuel in his budget speech in February.Other factors included rising international fuel prices, the department said.- Nampa-SapaThis increase brings retail price of 93 octane petrol to R4,39 a litre in Gauteng and R4,26 a litre at the coast.Wholesale 0,3 percent sulphur content diesel will cost R3,65 a litre in Gauteng and R3,52 a litre at the coast. These increases were announced by Finance Minister Trevor Manuel in his budget speech in February.Other factors included rising international fuel prices, the department said.- Nampa-Sapa
