RUNDU – The Regional Councillor for Ndiyona Constituency, Sebastian Karupu, says considerable progress has been made with the construction of a butchery at Ndongalinena village, some 75 kilometres east of Rundu.
According to Karupu, who visited the site recently, only some minor work remained, including the installation of butchery equipment. Karupu told Nampa that five community members of Ndongalinena village received financial assistance from Supporting the Transition of Extension and Research (STEER) in the Agriculture Ministry to construct the N$100 000 butchery. He said the butchery was part of a project to promote hygiene among residents at the village and therefore appealed to residents to support the butchery once completed.Meanwhile, an official in the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Alex Endunde, disclosed to Nampa that five community members had come up with the idea of constructing a butchery early this year for the Ndongalinena village and other surrounding villages.Endunde explained that the funds were made available for the construction of the building as well as buying of the equipment for the project.Earlier research conducted at Ndongalinena village has indicated that a total of 178 households were buying meat from the five members of the community who were involved in the business before.Karupu said the butchery was expected to be operational early in October. The Councillor appealed to the inhabitants in Ndiyona Constituency to come up with business ideas that would contribute to the reduction of unemployment and poverty.- NampaKarupu told Nampa that five community members of Ndongalinena village received financial assistance from Supporting the Transition of Extension and Research (STEER) in the Agriculture Ministry to construct the N$100 000 butchery. The Councillor appealed to the inhabitants in Ndiyona Constituency to come up with business ideas that would contribute to the reduction of unemployment and poverty.- Nampa
