RÖMI premieres ‘Dat Energy’

LYRICIST/RAPPER Stefanie Garises better known as RÖMI recently held a premier event in Windhoek for her new album ‘Dat Energy’, aimed at inspiring the public to have a positive mindset and maintaining it.

RÖMI sings about her experiences and scenarios to which she relates. She raps in English and her mother tongue, KhoeKhoeGowab, also known as Damara-Nama.

On the album RÖMI worked with artists Lioness, Fritz El Gato and Karishma. Producers Devitchi, Domingo Madness, Groovy Martin, KaroLex, Zack WandaBoi, and 95 Beatz also help make the album a success.

“The story of my new project is about the internal and external struggles of remaining true to one’s self and keeping a positive outlook even when life is really taking you on a roller coaster. It’s about finding balance between the things you have to do and the things you want to do,” the artist said.

RÖMI started working on the album in July 2019. She said it took long to finalize it because she has been reviewing its content.

She said while working on the album she experienced a lot of ups and downs.

“It is a way to document a state of mind in creating the best version of myself. It’s a coping mechanism,” she said.

RÖMI says she collaborated with Lioness because they have known each other for many years and she kiles her musical creativity.

“I met Lioness nine years ago. She liked one of my songs and encouraged me to keep working and growing. We have maintained the relationship ever since. We have always intended to collaborate, but both of us lead such busy lives. Last year we finally made it happen,” she said.

RÖMI says her favourite song on the album is ‘Cloudy’ and it has a vibe that feels hopeless and hopeful at the same time.

She said her second favourite song ‘Take It Easy’ is a motivational message to herself. Speaking about the song ‘Attitude’, RÖMI said it reminds her to always be humble and kind.

She said she loves making music because it is a form of therapy for her.

“Throughout my life, I have always been inspired to create music. My advice to other artists is to remain true to yourself. Even if it’s not the popular thing to do, it is the only way you are going to find your own way of doing things and spreading a unique message in a unique way,” she said.
