RIO DE JANEIRO – Brazilian World Cup winner Romario shrugged off his 41 years to hit a hat-trick as Vasco de Gama beat Volta Redonda 6-1 in a league match here on Sunday.
Romario, whose goals helped Brazil to the 1994 World Cup crown, came on as a 67th-minute substitute in the Carioca championship game and then scored in the 69th, 76th and 79th minutes as he edged closer to his objective of finishing his career with 1 000 goals.
