A SERVICE organisation has dropped a charge of assault against the newly elected Deputy Mayor of Swakopmund after the two parties agreed on Friday to resolve the issue.

The President of Lions Swakopmund, Almuth Styles, and John Ngolombe, who is also the Erongo Regional Co-ordinator of the Namibia Public Workers Union (Napwu), shook hands at a press conference on Saturday to demonstrate that they had made peace. “We both regret the unfortunate set of misunderstandings of last week but like in any good marriage there will be disagreement at times, which must be utilised as a building block to improve such a relationship,” they said in a joint statement.”We can now say that this is the case in our relationship. We confirm that we need each other as stakeholders and counterparts.”The statement noted that the recent conflict belonged to the past and that all complaints and counter-complaints had been relinquished in the interest of co-operation and their long-term relationship. The charge of assault was reported to the Police by the Lions President following an incident in which Ngolombe allegedly pushed the supervisor of the Lions Old Age Home out of the way.Ngolombe wanted to give a message to a union member who worked at the home.”We both regret the unfortunate set of misunderstandings of last week but like in any good marriage there will be disagreement at times, which must be utilised as a building block to improve such a relationship,” they said in a joint statement.”We can now say that this is the case in our relationship. We confirm that we need each other as stakeholders and counterparts.”The statement noted that the recent conflict belonged to the past and that all complaints and counter-complaints had been relinquished in the interest of co-operation and their long-term relationship. The charge of assault was reported to the Police by the Lions President following an incident in which Ngolombe allegedly pushed the supervisor of the Lions Old Age Home out of the way.Ngolombe wanted to give a message to a union member who worked at the home.
