THREE brutal murders that took place at Rehoboth this past weekend have shocked the community of the small southern town.
Two brothers, Petrus and Phillipus Kinda, were killed by a gang of four men at the town on Saturday. It is understood that one was hacked to death with a panga, while the other brother died of injuries after his throat was cut.Nampol’s Warrant Officer Stephan Nuuyi confirmed the deaths and four suspects were arrested for the double murder. The four accused, Taapopi Thobias (20), Daniel Matheus (26), Elias Nghikufwasha (29) and Johannes Mwoongela (21), made their first appearance on two counts of murder in the town’s Magistrate’s Court on Monday.On the same day a Rehoboth resident was also stoned and knifed to death. A father, his three sons and a neighbour were arraigned in the Rehoboth Magistrates Court for the murder. This follows after they allegedly killed their neighbour, Raynold Cloete.When they appeared in court, Piet Cloete (50), his sons, Johan (20), Chalton (22) and Elbert (26), and Romano Stanley Maasdorp (24) told Magistrate Gibson Imbili that they needed an attorney of their own choice. Imbili ordered that the men remain in custody until then. Their murder case was remanded to April 22.Magistrate Imbili was also on the bench during the first appearance of the suspects in the murder of the two Kinda. Public Prosecutor Victor Kwenani represented the State during Monday’s proceedings.
