OFFICERS of Anti-Corruption Commission have arrested an employee of the Rehoboth Town Council, Menthel Menzy Links (29), after he was involved in a car accident.
Links allegedly used the car without the required council authorisation on December 27 in Rehoboth.
The accident occurred in the early hours of that day in the Block E residential area.
Officers of the ACC launched an investigation which led to the arrest of Links, a community development and townland officer at the council.
Links appeared in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on December 31 and was granted bail of N$4 000 with stringent conditions. The case was postponed until April 7.
Nelius Becker, chief of investigation and prosecution at the ACC, says no misuse or abuse of Government property will be tolerated and that individuals involved in such acts will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
