PLEASE allow me to share a few thoughts on the current political situation in the country, which is of great concern to me.
It is rather disappointing to see the ruling party panicking and rambling about the establishment of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP). The ruling party should be warned that Namibia is a democratic country and we cannot be intimidated through its autocratic and undemocratic behaviour as had happened during the former President’s tenure.Swapo should learn to accept defeat, and not rig elections as has happened during the 2004 congress.Now that Peter Damaseb has been expressing his disappointment for allowing the rigging of the elections during the 2004 Swapo congress, he has been dropped as chair of the elections committee at next week’s congress.I am sure he was not going to allow that to happen again, as he will live with guilt for the rest of his life.Hage Geingob should also know that he would just be another vice-president like Muyongo or Witbooi.Swapo will not let him run the country.The sooner he realises that the better.I know he has the potential, but as it is now, there’s no chance for him.He should learn to live with any other position he is given.Further, if Swapo wants to probe corruption that has taken place in the country, it should start with the Tsumeb – Oshikango Railway Tender that went to the former President’s son.Then it should continue with all the Tenders that were given to the brother-in-law on behalf of the former President, which have failed at a high cost of taxpayers’ money, as well as the farms he was given by the late Werner List for the country’s poor.If those elements of SPYL and NUNW do not know who benefited from Avid, DBC, N$100 million from ODC, Amcom, Patriotic Construction Company, then they should not ignite the fire.The current actions by the Swapo party are themselves a threat to peace and stability in this country.SPYL and NUNW should concentrate on issues of developing the country and not incite violence.RDP does not pose any threat to peace and stability in the country.I wonder if they know what democracy is.Democracy is not Swapo, but it’s the right of the people to choose to belong.Swapo is now on a self-destructive course, by labelling everyone they see as a threat.The party president should address these issues himself.This is not the way to survive democracy.As it is now: * Cabinet Ministers hardly know what they are representing; * Parliamentary debates have degenerated.No sense comes out of this House anymore; * The education system is in a mess; * The health system is in a mess; * Corruption is increasing because of jobs for comrades; * This nation has real issues that need real answers.The Swapo party is not addressing them.For those asking what change Hidipo and Nyamu brought while in Swapo, they should note that it was change that they were advocating when they fell victim to dictatorship.We will miss their contribution in Swapo.What is happening now is exactly what happened during exile, when many innocent Namibians were thrown into the dungeons of Lubango by Swapo, particularly those educated and who posed a threat to positions of the uneducated ones.Being replaced by visionless supporters of one-man rule to the detriment of the country.Currently, those who want to make a difference in Swapo are being excommunicated from the party, in the name of being RDP supporters.What a shame.The country’s development is at stake and it is all because of infighting in the Swapo party, leading to next week’s congress, and trying to proof who is loyal to Nujoma, in order to get positions in the party.The country belongs to all of us, black and white, and no one has an exclusive right to intimidate others for political reasons, as Swapo does.The Swapo party is busy leading us into another Zimbabwe so they can blame it on somebody else.Swapo should leave us to live in peace and vote for whatever political party we wish to vote for.It had a chance since Independence and it messed it all up through its undemocratic and autocratic leadership style.Namibia is not for one person.We know our rights now and will not be intimidated any longer.Neither will we be intimidated into signing any oath.Concerned Namibian OshakatiThe ruling party should be warned that Namibia is a democratic country and we cannot be intimidated through its autocratic and undemocratic behaviour as had happened during the former President’s tenure.Swapo should learn to accept defeat, and not rig elections as has happened during the 2004 congress.Now that Peter Damaseb has been expressing his disappointment for allowing the rigging of the elections during the 2004 Swapo congress, he has been dropped as chair of the elections committee at next week’s congress.I am sure he was not going to allow that to happen again, as he will live with guilt for the rest of his life.Hage Geingob should also know that he would just be another vice-president like Muyongo or Witbooi.Swapo will not let him run the country.The sooner he realises that the better.I know he has the potential, but as it is now, there’s no chance for him.He should learn to live with any other position he is given.Further, if Swapo wants to probe corruption that has taken place in the country, it should start with the Tsumeb – Oshikango Railway Tender that went to the former President’s son.Then it should continue with all the Tenders that were given to the brother-in-law on behalf of the former President, which have failed at a high cost of taxpayers’ money, as well as the farms he was given by the late Werner List for the country’s poor.If those elements of SPYL and NUNW do not know who benefited from Avid, DBC, N$100 million from ODC, Amcom, Patriotic Construction Company, then they should not ignite the fire.The current actions by the Swapo party are themselves a threat to peace and stability in this country.SPYL and NUNW should concentrate on issues of developing the country and not incite violence.RDP does not pose any threat to peace and stability in the country.I wonder if they know what democracy is.Democracy is not Swapo, but it’s the right of the people to choose to belong.Swapo is now on a self-destructive course, by labelling everyone they see as a threat.The party president should address these issues himself.This is not the way to survive democracy.As it is now: * Cabinet Ministers hardly know what they are representing;
