THE Rally of Democracy and Progress (RDP) secretary of information, technology and publicity, Jeremiah Nambinga told a public rally held at Helao Nafidi Town on Saturday that the RDP will wage a war against injustice, autocracy, nepotism, and other social ills.
Nambinga said just after ten years of Namibia’s independence, especially during Sam Nujoma’s third term, Swapo started to lose vision.Nambinga said he and others tried to change things from within Swapo, but without success. He said the then Director of Electoral Commission of Namibia, Fillemon Kanime was unceremoniously dismissed, apparently because he registered the RDP without informingthe Swapo leadership.’His case is still pending and for your own information Kanime has done nothing illegal in this regard,’ Nambinga told the cheering RDP crowd.Nambinga further claimed that since the formation of the RDP, job opportunities in the Government and in parastatals are strictly reserved for Swapo members. Applicants, Nambinga said, are vetted by the national intelligence agency to ensure that those who are suspected to be RDP members and sympathisers are excluded from possible employment opportunities. He said this is done to instil a spirit of fear among the Namibian people and to prevent them from joining RDP. Nambinga alleged the Swapo Government has stopped NBC from covering RDP rallies out of fear that the masses will hear the truth RDP is preaching.’Not withstanding, the RDP membership is determined and committed to wage a war against injustices, autocracy, nepotism and all the likes,’ Nambinga said adding that Swapo is desperate and are now making deaths threats to those who want to speak the truth. He gave an example of Cabinet minsters who have threatened some Namibian citizens with deaths because they have spoken out against the GIPF money. ‘You have no doubt heard of how Swapo party Cabinet ministers are threatening some Namibian citizens with death for having spoken out against the GIPF money. I know the Minister of Labour Alpheus Naruseb very well. He is not a man to issue threats against others, but I think he just wanted to warn the secretary general of NUNW Evilastus Kaaronda, that he must be careful, because those others Swapos in the leadership, might kill him. What a serious repetition of political history in Namibia,’ Nambinga said.
