Rapes and robberies

POLICE are investigating the alleged rape of a five-year-old girl at a village in Okalongo, northern Namibia. She was allegedly assaulted by her 27-year-old cousin. The man is still being sought. The incident is said to have happened at Olupito village on Saturday.

* The Police also reported that a taxi driver at Okahao allegedly raped a 19-year-old patron last Thursday. Police say the woman accepted a lift from the Onesi clinic to the Okahao State Hospital and the suspect drove her to Ondukuta village where he allegedly raped her.* Police in Windhoek are investigating cases of attempted murder, housebreaking with intent to rob and robbery with aggravating circumstances after a group of armed men robbed a shebeen in Otjomuise last Thursday morning.The incident happened along Beijing Street, when the men broke into the shebeen and robbed the caretaker at gunpoint.The thieves stole goods valued at about N$2 400, as well as N$1 400 in cash and a cellphone.The suspects reportedly discharged their guns before fleeing the scene, Police say.* A Windhoek taxi driver was held at gunpoint by two men last Friday and robbed of N$1 300 worth of items. The incident happened at the Okahandja Park informal settlement, and the robbers apparently took a radio tape and N$300 in cash.
