WHILE rain continues to fall in central Namibia, the north-central regions are experiencing a dry spell after heavy rains in mid-January.
Communal farmers who ploughed their mahangu fields late are worried that their young crops might wither if they receive no more rain.Those who planted towards the end of last year have mahangu already heading for maturity.For livestock, there is plenty of food as the veld is green and the pans are full of water.Weather forecaster Odilo Kgobetsi of the Windhoek weather bureau says the rains will return to north-central Namibia by Friday.He said tropical moisture was moving this way from Angola, resulting in heavy rainfall in north-central Namibia by Friday.Kgobetsi said the rain in the central part of the country will decrease by Friday, but the South can expect more rain.
