Rain disrupts indoor hockey

The Omina Supplies Indoor Hockey League was disrupted by rain last weekend with the scheduled Premier League matches between Wanderers and Windhoek Old Boys called off.

The women’s Premier League match between Wanderers and WOB got underway and WOB took a 1-0 lead, but it had to be called off due to a waterlogged surface, despite the fact that the DTS club house has an indoor complex. The rain seeped in from the side making further play impossible and as one official quipped, “Namibia must be the only country in the world where an indoor hockey match gets called off due to rain.”Both the women’s and men’s Premier League matches between WOB and Wanderers will now be replayed at a later stage.DTS are still the leaders in the women’s league on four points, while WOB, Wanderers and Unam are all tied on one point.Unam and DTS lead the men’s log with four points each, followed by WOB on three points, while Wanderers and the X Team still have to open their account.Meanwhile, the programme in the Men’s sand Women’s First and Second Leagues and the Boys and Girls’ U16 Leagues went ahead as scheduled. In the Men’s First League, Unam beat Rehoboth 5-3, DTS beat Civics 4-2 and DTS and Draughters drew 2-all.In the Women’s First League, WOB beat Wanderers 3-1 and Unam beat DTS 2-1.In the Men’s Second League, DTS beat Wanderers 3-2, and in the Women’s Second League, WOB beat DTS 5-0.In the U16 Girls’ League, WOB beat Unam 3-0, while Unam beat WOB 2-0 in the U16 Boys’ League.- namibiasportThe rain seeped in from the side making further play impossible and as one official quipped, “Namibia must be the only country in the world where an indoor hockey match gets called off due to rain.”Both the women’s and men’s Premier League matches between WOB and Wanderers will now be replayed at a later stage.DTS are still the leaders in the women’s league on four points, while WOB, Wanderers and Unam are all tied on one point.Unam and DTS lead the men’s log with four points each, followed by WOB on three points, while Wanderers and the X Team still have to open their account.Meanwhile, the programme in the Men’s sand Women’s First and Second Leagues and the Boys and Girls’ U16 Leagues went ahead as scheduled. In the Men’s First League, Unam beat Rehoboth 5-3, DTS beat Civics 4-2 and DTS and Draughters drew 2-all.In the Women’s First League, WOB beat Wanderers 3-1 and Unam beat DTS 2-1.In the Men’s Second League, DTS beat Wanderers 3-2, and in the Women’s Second League, WOB beat DTS 5-0.In the U16 Girls’ League, WOB beat Unam 3-0, while Unam beat WOB 2-0 in the U16 Boys’ League.- namibiasport
