When Namdia security chief Francis Eiseb went to work on 18 January, his wife, children and family members did not know this would be his last day.
This was said by the chairperson of the Public Enterprises CEOs’ Forum, Fluksman Samuehl, in a statement on Monday.
He says the forum is still trying to come to terms with Eiseb’s tragic death.
The security chief was fatally shot on 18 January during a botched heist at Namdia’s Windhoek office.
The incident is currently under police investigation, while a suspect who is in police custody made his first court appearance last week.
“When Francis went out to work to fulfil his daily assignments on Saturday, 18 January 2025, his wife, children and family members never knew, let alone imagine, that this would be the last day, and that he would not be back forever.
“It is very painful as we mourn the departure of Francis from the planet earth. Indeed, this is how unfair life can be,” Fluksman says.
He says Eiseb was killed by people who were prepared to “loot with impunity and driven by greed”.
The forum appreciates the contribution Eiseb made towards the growth of Namdia, public enterprises and Namibia at large, Fluksman says.
“Francis died in the line of duty defending our natural resources from greed. He shall be known for safeguarding the wealth of Namibia as he always did with dedication.
“Just like a soldier at the battlefield defending his/her motherland, Francis died protecting Namibia’s vital economic interest. He sacrificed greatly, and in the end, he unfortunately paid the ultimate price.”
