LET me express my concern over President Sam Nujoma’s attitude towards certain issues.
Recently the Namibian people were told to switch on their televisions because the President had something very important to say on TV. To my surprise it was the issue which was just a few days earlier addressed by the Prime Minister in similar fashion – as usual ‘switch on your television’.Worst of all I also find out that the President was giving us the message which he meant for Sigi Eimbeck.Another day he came to Okatana to address us, and to my surprise it was an attack on Ben Ulenga being accused of being gay and other things… what a shame.Mr President I have questions to ask you: If one of your ministers or ambassadors wants to go on maternity leave, is that what you are going to tell the public on your official visits? Or if one of your ministers or ambassadors wants to go on sick leave and require a longer leave than normal, when they resign, are you going to tell the public that s/he has Aids? These are very similar issues – the only difference is the type of leave, but they are all leave. There is no justification for going around gossiping and talking about people’s lives. The President is supposed to set a good example but right now he is setting a very bad one and even the Kapia’s are now just talking without checking the facts. There are so many occasions which the President just grabs and uses to vent his frustration – this is not only unprofessional but also bad manners. Please Mr. President make a difference between issues and non issues to the public.Eva Maria Benhard OndangwaTo my surprise it was the issue which was just a few days earlier addressed by the Prime Minister in similar fashion – as usual ‘switch on your television’.Worst of all I also find out that the President was giving us the message which he meant for Sigi Eimbeck.Another day he came to Okatana to address us, and to my surprise it was an attack on Ben Ulenga being accused of being gay and other things… what a shame.Mr President I have questions to ask you: If one of your ministers or ambassadors wants to go on maternity leave, is that what you are going to tell the public on your official visits?
