President names new Ministers

PRESIDENT Sam Nujoma yesterday appointed Marco Hausiku as his new Foreign Affairs Minister.

In a move widely viewed as aimed at garnering more votes for his preferred candidate in the Swapo presidential race, Nujoma promoted a female deputy minister and also named two women as deputies. Nujoma, who appeared to be in a sombre mood when he made the announcement, presented former Labour Minister Hausiku as his successor to Hidipo Hamutenya who was sacked on Monday night.Nujoma has promoted deputy Women Affairs Minister Marlene Mungunda to succeed Hausiku at the Ministry of Labour.Mungunda’s position at Women Affairs will be filled by “the Himba lady”, MP Angelika Muharukua.
