President Is Unfair

President Is Unfair

ALLOW me to express my view on the elections.

As a non active Swapo member I find it very embarrassing and very unfair what happened to the former Foreign Minister Hamutenya. Although he was never my favorite from day one, he was my second option should anything happen to Angula.Namibia has an Intelligence service and they are supposed to know if Hamutenya was bought long before the elections. They should then tell us, but most of our politicians tend to be governed by money nowadays. The President is unfair though.I mean I went through the war, I know and still remember how bad it was. After all, this is not something one forgets. Both the President and Hamutenya know that there is nothing worse than a civil war and yet they are playing cat and mouse with each other. They are blinded by selfishness and they forget that Namibia is not something which they can decide is theirs or not.Why should the President impose Pohamba on us Namibians? Did Pohamba buy the President then? Mr Nujoma is not doing Minister Pohamba any favours but is instead showing us that Pohamba cannot win the election without the President’s help.We Namibians needs a president who is independent and able to stand up and make decisions on his own.Fact is Minister Pohamba should be preparing for retirement, not to be a president. It is a known fact that the US have their eye on our diamonds, uranium and the rumoured gases in the coast. So it is a fact too that they will try to bribe some of our leaders. It is again a known fact that what Bush government is doing in Iraq and their involvement in Sudan civil war is not good and to hear that one of the nominated presidential candidates is bought by them is scarcely better. But still the President should not have let someone be nominated if he knew of his activities.Or was it part of the plan that they nominate him just to fire him so that Pohamba wouldn’t have competition? I’m proud to be a Namibian, I’m proud of what the Swapo government has achieved so far. There is a lot of change and I started seeing this when I come abroad.I’m very proud of the President as he was but not the person he is turning into these days. Why can’t President Nujoma follow Mandela’s foot prints? Go down in history as one of the best presidents of Africa? Spend his retirement days in peaceful contribution to humanitarian deeds instead of turning into the second Mugabe? It is good for him to support his choice of who he thinks should be the president, but it all seems as if he is misusing his power. His speech few day ago in Okatana was also interesting, I partly agree with it but I honestly cannot see what someone’s sexual preference has to do with his eligibility to be a Party leader. After all the election is not for women who are looking for potential husbands or lovers.I hope this election process will be fair and that Namibia will still be the pride of Africa and I, like many other Namibians out there hope to see the President go down in history as one of the leaders who can set an example to other African Presidents.Nangy Tateati Munchen, GermanyAlthough he was never my favorite from day one, he was my second option should anything happen to Angula.Namibia has an Intelligence service and they are supposed to know if Hamutenya was bought long before the elections.
