Premiership to advertise chief executive post again

THE Namibian Premier League yesterday announced that they will re-advertise the position of chief executive officer after the preferred candidate, Mathew Haikali turned down the offer.

NPL spokeswoman, Meke Namindo yesterday announced that the highly sought-after position will be advertised again in January. In a media release yesterday, Namindo stated that the preferred candidate turned down the offer due to ‘personal reasons’, but The Namibian Sport understands that Haikali was not happy with the offer made to him by the league. It was speculated that Haikali was made an offer of less than N$20 000 a month and based on that, turned it down. There were seven other candidates who were shortlisted for the job, but the league did not indicate if they would give the second best man a chance to see the offer. corry@namibian.com.na
