Power failure hits North

A POWER failure on Monday night affected the central and some northern parts of Namibia for about 35 minutes.

The affected areas were Okahandja, the Hochfeld area, Otjiwarongo, Outjo, Kamanjab, Khorixas, Platveld, Ombika, Paresis, Tsumeb, Grootfontein, Kombat, Mannheim and surrounding areas. In the North, Ondangwa, Oshakati, Okapya, Rundu and surrounding areas were without electricity.The power outage lasted from 18h20 until 19h52.According to NamPower spokesman John Kaimu, a current transformer blew up on the Omburu-Van Eck feeder at the Omburu substation near Omaruru.”Our technicians managed to restore electricity flow to all the affected areas by 19h52,” Kaimu said in a statement.In the North, Ondangwa, Oshakati, Okapya, Rundu and surrounding areas were without electricity.The power outage lasted from 18h20 until 19h52.According to NamPower spokesman John Kaimu, a current transformer blew up on the Omburu-Van Eck feeder at the Omburu substation near Omaruru.”Our technicians managed to restore electricity flow to all the affected areas by 19h52,” Kaimu said in a statement.
